I am in NC and the LLMD I see was trained by Dr. J before he moved to D.C. She still uses his protocols and new things he tries on his patients.
I am on a very strange pulsing protocol for Lyme, Babs, and Bart...Pyrimethamine Protocol.
Not sure if anyone else uses this BUT..my LLMD pulses and uses LOW doses. This is really scaring me lately. I know if I told her I dont want to pulse she would accept my wishes but changing the low doses to higher ones may be an issue. She claims that there is no proof that Higher doses are needed and just lead to more side effects.
Obviously, I dont agree with this and hope she agrees to change this with me, I just dont have any other options in this state..
Anyone have success with Dr. J pulsing protocols? Does he use High doses or low ones?

I see Dr. J. In fact, I'm on the train coming home from a visit with him right now. He uses a pulsing protocol using high doses and multiple antibiotics at once. I don't think he has name for it. I have not hear of anything called "Pyrimethamine".

Pyrimethamine is also known as Daraprim. It can be used in combination with other medications to treat malaria and toxoplasmosis. It can be used for treatment of Babesia too.

Send me an email if you would like the name of hubby's LLMD in Chapel Hill, NC. Don't have time to clean out my mailbox on this site right now.
Daraprim is not very effective on babs in my opinion.
Hubby just had a phone consult with his LLMD. The doc will do phone consults for established patients who are too sick to travel on a regular basis. Hubby is currently on IV rocephin, IV zithromax and will be adding in IV clindamycin soon. Is also on lariam, malarone, ivermectin, rifampin and flagyl (pulsing oral and IV). Also herbs such as sida acuta and artemisinin. Obviously hubby is trying to treat lyme, babesia and bartonella and ehrlichia and/or anything else the tick gave him all at the same time.
His doc does not do much pulsing of meds at all -- just has not worked for hubby when he tried that with other docs.
Be sure to include your LymeNet name in your email.

axseptants-Thank you, I was under the impression that pulsing is used with very high doses even higher than normal lyme doses. Not a happy camper considering my LLMD has made up her own rules!
Thank you all. Bea-sent you an email!

i pm'd you, but mailbox full. just worried about you guys. last we emailed, things were sounding better, but insurance problems were starting... now sounds like relpase...?
hoping we're entering 3rd remission period here, pain went down. so far for about 2 weeks, kid getting more active again, like before when pain goes away, she wants to get her life back, no abx since end of june. hope no more relapses...but we've hoped that before...
another mom up the street called me, same panic and confusion I had in 2009 when we started. I'm trying to help them through this first part like you guys helped us!
Thanks and much Hugs,
Janet
