...while taking doxy or minocycline?

Who is good at reading lab reports!!??

My other kid was bit in June. The tick was only on her for 2 hours. Symptoms began day 5 and I started her on mino that night. Switched to doxy the next week.

Test from LabCorp 6 weeks after bite:

CD8-/CD57 Lymphs 1.6 LOW range 2.0-17.0
Abs. CD8-CD57 Lymphs 29 LOW range 60-360

Monocytes 12 HIGH range 3-10
EOS 8 HIGH range 0-4

LYME West. Blot Reflex 4.28 HIGH positive> 1.09
LYME Ab Interp EIA 1.38 HIGH positive> 1.09

EIA IgM positive bands 45+, 41+, 39+, 23+
Ab IgM positive bands 41+, 23+

1. Can CD-57 go down to 29 six weeks after bite?
2. Do labs say new AND OLD infection?
3. Do lymies usually have high EOS? or does this indicate parasites as was proved from my other daughter...

I'm wondering if she had lyme even before this new bite.

Thanks for any information from this.

Hi LAXlover,

Sorry to hear that :-(. Hope your kid is doing okay.

1. Not sure. I'd say, yes. But I think Dr. J. once mentioned that the CD-57 isn't a helpful marker in kids.
2. Could be both, hard to know.
3. I've only heard about high EOS in relation to babesia. But I guess, it's not entirely impossible that Lyme could cause an elevation.

Other than that ... not sure if Mino is good for kids? I've read that Amoxicillin would be the drug of choice. (Though that might only be during the early infection period).

Sending well wishes to your child!

I appreciate all your replies. If it takes me a while to respond, it is either because I'm too sick or because I am unable to log in. From European servers, Lymenet is very frequently inaccessible for days at a time ...
