The Bicillin-LA 1.2 comes with 21ga 1.5" needles.
The Bicillin-LA 600,000 comes with 21ga 1".

Both sizes are Eclipse needles.

My doctor said she wanted 1" needles for me.

It seems my local and mail order pharmacy cannot get 21ga 1" needles - Eclipse or otherwise.

So on refill I was sent a bag of 22ga 1" needles.
Not Eclipse. I guess they will work connection-wise. ?

Has anyone used 22ga i/o 21ga for Bicillin?

Thanks.

Am I correct that the "attachment" at the end of the pre-filled syringe makes it a Luer lock?

(I was studying the syringe and realized I could twist off the end piece/attachment - which then makes the syringe not a Luer lock?).

The needles obviously should fit/be used with the attachment (Luer lock?) in place?

Sorry my dumb questions. Thanks for helping me understand.

The luer lock is the threaded part of the syringe that meets the hub of the needle. When you twist the needle on it "locks" in place. The name tells you what kind of syringe/needle to use with it.

I don't know or can't think of what the proper name of the safety mechanism is right now. It's just the guard tip that flips up to cover the needle after the injection. You could twist the guard off and discard it if you are giving yourself the shots since there is no risk of needle stick to a caregiver.

I hope you are feeling better with your bicillin shots [Smile]

Thanks.

I triple checked all today when I went in for IVIG. I showed the IV nurse the needle and syringe and she said yes they will work/lock.

I also asked her to circle in pen my VentralGlut area so my sister would have an easier time finding the spot.

So the new needles are 22ga 1" with no safety guard. (not an Eclipse type). They twisted/locked on the pre-filled B-LA syringe just fine. The clear "thingie" on the end of the syringe is what accepts/locks the needle hub. Remove it and there are no "threads". So now I see that other needles/sizes can be used instead of the ones sent in the B-LA box. I was so confused about that.

So after IVIG my sister came over and gave me my 8th B-LA injection. This time with the shorter and slightly thinner needle and injected into the VentralGlut area i/o DorsalGlut.

This new combo the least painful. Not that the 21ga 1.5" and DorsalGlut was even that bad.
I'm receiving these injections w/o icing or heat before or after. So if anyone is afraid of these shots because of what they have read - ie very painful - don't be afraid.

And we always have Sammy here to give us courage
and help!

I also just took some Doxy. I am sure tomorrow will be a rough day.

I cannot tell what the meds are doing. Some days better - some days worse. I will give this some time.

Sammy - I hope your IVIG etc went well and that you are doing better?!
