I have been on Doxy for almost 30 days and today I started experienced severe vaginal yeast
symptoms. I have never seen so much yeast coming up of my vagina. I have had yeast before but never like that.
I thought that because I am taking pro-biotic 2 hours after the antibiotic I will not be one of
these people who experience it but obviously I was so wrong.
So, I guess my question is for the female part in this forum. I don't wanna to discriminate if some
of you guys have something to say you are welcome. What are you doing with Candida?
Do you take anti-fungal medications on regular basis? Can I try to treat it only with
pro-biotic? What is the best pro-biotic you have tried . When do you take it and how much?
Thanks!

Probiotics are helpful but once you have an infection I would suggest Diflucan.

I take jarrodophilus or ultimate flora or i flora . I take it at bedtime with 1 tbsp yogurt and allow it to work while i sleep . That is best way because it can replicate- multiply , and also it will not be broken down by food while you sleep .
You can get OTC yeast treatment cheaply at walmart . You can also make vag suppositories of boric acid , which kills yeast . A member here named Maria shared this tip and I also read about yeast ideas at earth clinic . I do not know your age , but we are more inclined to have this problem and UTIs as we hit menopause and have reduced vag secretions and reduced naturally produced " good bacteria " .
I could not tolerate ABX after 3 years because of these issues with yeast , UTIs, and kidney infections .

Get an RX for diflucan.
The ultimate flora has one that treats for severe cases.
Stay dry as you can there...
There is a topical RX that you can get for the outside.
Sorry you are dealing with this....Lyme is more than enough

I am 26 years old and I started the treatment 3 weeks ago (doxy) and I already feel I can't tolerate the antibiotics.
The problem is that I am already very dry down there because of thyroid, testosterone and
estrodyle deficiency. I am on a hormonal replacement therapy but I don't see it helping me much.
In addition to that there is a some kind of vaginal issue which causes my vagina to be very
red and irritated. I 've had numerous tests and nothing explains it. Because of this irritation
i can't tolerate any kind of vaginal suppository, I have already tried Boric Acid- it
burns the vaginal skin. I can take only oral anti-fungal and pro-biotic. I hoped that
pro-biotic will be sufficient to keep me away of yeast but obviously is not.
Not only that but since I started the treatment I have had experiencing UTI infections.
I had to add amoxi too and I got even more yeast.

Probiotics are important...but the other piece of the puzzle not often mentioned is to take anti-yeast stuff DAILY!
I rotate herbal candida formulas and garlic, or olive leaf extract.
I don't think probiotics by themselves are enough

Diflucan and Monistat7 kill it. You should also alter your diet. Burrascano's anti candida diet is a good one. Also, nystatin.
Layering in anti yeast herbs helps too (berberine, olive leaf extract, etc). You might want to up your probiotics too. I slowly upped mine until I figured out what worked for me (400 billion cultures).
One of the best probiotics I've used is Ultimate Flora. It's a good idea to rotate other ones in as well (the more the better).

Note to all who wonder about yeast/candida.
1. Unless you follow an anti-yeast, sugar free, white food free diet while taking long term antibiotics, you will eventually get yeast.
2. MEN CAN GET YEAST.
3. PROBIOTICS do not KILL yeast.
4. Anti-fungals are often needed when it gets out of control.
5. It would be a good idea to ask your Dr for Nystatin TABLETS to take the entire time you are on abx.
6. If you are depending upon "acidophilus" .. you will not be adequately covered. Buy HIGH QUALITY and HIGH count probiotics. Suggestion: 100 billion CFU's per day (minimum) while on abx.
As others mentioned, Ultimate Flora is a good one. (Make sure you buy it refrigerated.) Theralac is good. VSL#3 is good and so is this one:

My PCP said to just insert a whole capsule of lactobacillus (or acidophilus ? I have to check the sheet she gave me)into vagina before bed. Haaven't done it yet.
She said it doesn't have to be an exensive brand.
Haven't done it yet because need to get some less expensive stuff from drug store.
