Yes acupuncture does help. It made me feel better all around (pain relief, relief of that awful fluey feeling, GI better...). The effect would wear off by the next day and I would start to have the symptoms return. Still I think that acupuncture was worth it.

If I had the time and money I would do it 3x per week. It really helped.

I did acupuncture, but herxed so bad the next day I quit doing it. I probably helped in the long run, I just couldn't tolerate it.

The bottom line for me was it never got rid of any of the infections or symptoms. Money would have been spent better elswhere.

Accupuncture has been hit or miss for me. I discontinued it for "fibromyalgia type" symptoms. It was good for an illness I had a long time ago. I saw a top notch doctor in NYC, Chinatown back then, though.

It probably depends on the cause of the fatigue & how good the doctor is. I found that the help is usually temporary for chronic ailments, as Gael mentions. The Chinese herbs may be better for fatigue if you can manage them. They can taste awful depending on the formula.

Acupuncture, from my experience, simply distributes the neurotoxins throughout the system. It may bring an hour or two of relief, but nothing worthwhile.

All this is especially true and very likely the real reason, if one does not have enough binders on board to catch the toxins. They redistribute and are reabsorbed and do their nasty thing elsewhere in the body.

I never do any remedial action anymore, even my morning Fonda one-mile Walk-out, without loading myself with binders. My very favorite has really become Diatomaceous Earth.

In today's world, keeping up with detoxing is part of a better life, even at my age.

Take care.

I get it for detoxing, herxing, back aches, depression, vertigo, PMS, anxiety, you name it. My acupuncturist just asks me what is ailing me, and fixes it. I just got it today to help my adrenals (so relaxing and calming).

It's better than any pill I've taken (really helps me). The benefits I get from it last a couple of days, sometimes just one day. It also depends on what I eat after that, insomnia, etc. She says that it works for half of her patients though.

It's also recommended in the book, The Lyme Disease Solution, as one of the most effective therapies to improve and normalize endorphins. It got me through lyme when I went undiagnosed (hell year).

Acupuncture has been a life savor for me, allowing me to continue to work 40 hours per week and take care of my 12 year old chronic lyme son and a 5 month old infant.

I go once/week and when I do not go, I can tell the difference. I'm a hot mess without it!

I agree with catgirl and philly. Acupuncture got me to the point I was able to go back to work--helping me feel better generally and targeting specific problems that are going on.

I can't afford it right now but can't wait until I'm able to do that again.

The key, I think, is finding the right practitioner.

Also, my acupuncturist is a Chinese doctor, so she's able to give me Chinese medicines that complement my other treatments.

Andie and philly , do you do acupuncture for pain or for lyme disease ?

I have been treating for years and seem to herx forever without making remarkable progress . I suspect this is related to cytokines , which may be the result of infections- or possibly something else that is wrong with my immune system. I get so tired of the flu feeling - it is staggering every morning and so discouraging .

I do it for many different things. Depends on how I'm feeling and what is bothering me the most. Some days it is just back and leg pain....other days it is anxiety....other days it is brain fog and mental fatigue. Some days I feel like one huge ball of inflammation.

I tell her how I'm feeling and she treats me. I always feel so much better afterwards. I find some sessions to be very relaxing and have even fallen asleep if you can believe it.
