This morning when I woke up I could hardly move my eyes. They were burning and it felt like the muscles behind my eyes did'nt want to work. It really hurt to try and move them to look around. I've never heard of this. Kinda scared me. Has anyone else ever had this? They are find now.

I've had this happen. Could be from inflammation.

Did you hydrate adequately yesterday? Sounds like you might have been dehydrated upon awakening.

Getting enough antioxidants & good balance of electrolytes?

Reacting to a certain drug, OTC product or supplement you took yesterday or last night?

Mold or chemical exposure?

MSG, food additives?

Tomorrow, you might get some preservative free "liquid tears" or something like that. Ask a pharmacist or the manager of the wellness dept. at a natural foods market.

Be sure to check the expiration date on the ones you buy. Dark glass is best, not plastic (though the tip may be plastic, you don't want the solution sitting in plastic).

If it happens again, be sure to see your eye doctor.

This holistic doctor's site and his book are excellent (it's not about lyme, however):

Book & website: THE EYE CARE REVOLUTION - by Robert Abel, Jr. M.D. (Ophthalmologist)

ASTAXANTHIN - an antioxidant that has great promise for the eyes

Also be sure to get your FISH OIL - Many here really like OmegaBrite - just Google.

TAURINE is an essential amino acid for the eyes. Be sure your diet includes plenty. Vegetarians MUST supplement as it's primarily in muscle meat, fish and eggs.

Be sure to avoid (for many reasons AND they can also irritate your eyes in various ways):

Excitotoxins; MSG; Aspartame; & "Natural" Flavors

My eyes started hurting to move, too. My chiropractor suggested I try drinking mangosteen juice, an anti-inflammatory antioxidant juice, and all Lyme eye symptoms cleared up in 24 hours!!

Healthfood stores and online businesses carry various mangosteen juice brands. I like the Ultra and Mango-Xan versions. I drink 1/2 oz in the am and pm.

If you try it, go slowly and drink water too.

We are all different in how we respond to remedies. The juice works for me. If you try it and it works, let us know!

Just be aware of SUGAR content in some of the juices purchased in stores.

Of all the store-bought juices, I think Mango-Xan is the most tart.

This is supposed to be a problem with Bart and Babs. I have done all that is suggested and continue with burning and pain around my eyes. I see an ophthalmologist every few months.

My LLMD said topical steroid drops were okay in the eyes if things got really bad. I end up using them twice a year. The inflammation gets so bad it hurts to open my eyes and of course I am light sensitive.

Other symptoms are improving but the eyes seem to be the last thing to improve for me.

Bilberry helps me some, but saw mention of testosterone supplementation helping someone with dry eye...don't know if that would make a difference for you or not, and certainly would want to get tested first before doing any hormone stuff...

Something else I find helpful for my eyes is Optique 1, a homeopathic eye drop for eye irritation. I get mine at a local health food store or from http://www.supersup.com/ (no financial connection with this website or the company who makes the eye drops).

I've been dealing with the same thing--plus, in the evening, a pressure behind my eyes causes them to close part way.

It's just started happening since I've been treating Bart and Babs; I didn't have anything like this while just on Lyme antibiotics.

Unfortunately, this is only to empathize. I haven't found anything that mitigates the symptom. I use an otc eye drop each morning. Most days it helps, but today, my eyes are still a little droopy and burning.

I'm anxious to hear about other people's experiences and the help they've found.
