My right foot is starting to give me discomfort.
Because of so many reasons, I don't want a future surgery (the thought of anesthesia suppressing the immune system giving Lyme and cos a stronger foothold scares me). Any suggestions on things that can be done now before it becomes a major problem?
I've been usuing bee venom ointment, but not with regularity.
Thanks!

They sell tiny foam pads that you can put in between you toes to provide proper spacing and help realign the bones. This can help reduce pain.
Also, there are pads that you stick on the bunion to keep the shoe from rubbing.
Another option would be to have your shoes stretched in that area so that they would not rub the toes.
Make sure your shoes are the right size and width.

I went to a podiatrist (foot doctor) and he called my bunions moderate. He made inserts for my shoes.
I have had no problems with the bunions since getting the inserts. It is wonderful. The inserts tilt my feet more to the outside, taking pressure off the big toe and making the other toes bear my body weight.
I only wear these shoes in the fall and winter. They are boots with at least a 3 inch heel. Still, all has been well all summer as I wore sandals.
The inserts made my callouses melt away. Not wearing them all summer has made them come back a little.
I will start wearing the boots again in a number of weeks, I am sure. So, I will expect the callouses will go away again.
I expect that with this approach I will be able to avoid surgery for the rest of my life. That is because the inserts change the way the foot is bearing the weight. That is the key.
The inserts were mostly paid for by my insurance, so this was not expensive at all.

My DD has several things going on in her feet that causes intense pain. The podiatrist formulated her a cream to rub on her feet that has helped so much. We had to order it from a mail order pharmacy.

there is a plastic piece for feet that has a strap that goes across the top of the foot. it pulls your big toe into place. feels uncomfortable at first but it really works.
i can wear mine just a couple of nights and i have a big bunion and it goes right down.

You are in luck Tammy because I just so happen to have the script sitting right in front of me
We ordered it from: Sheffield Pharmacy and Homecare phone #855-381-8466
It was compounded specifically for her. This is what all is in it: Ketamine 10% Baclofen 2% Cyclobenzaprine 2% Ketoprofen 10% Gabapentin 6% Lidocaine 2% in Lipoderm
This has been a miracle for her.
