I posted yesterday about an increase in my muscle/nerve pain in my back, buttocks and upper and outer thighs. I recently started a high dose fish oil and I'm wondering if this could be related?
It seems like fish oil usually releives pain, not causes it, but in my case I'm wondering if it's making me feel worse. Has anyone else had a negatvie reaction to fish oil?

Ellen, it is possible you are allergic/intolerant to something in the fish oil or capsule. I get achy if I take fish oil with citrus oil in it.
But most fish oils are made from mackeral & anchovies too... not something you might normally eat (and certainly not daily and at high doses) so may not know how you react.
I forget which it is IGA or IGG allergic responses that don't cause immediate itchiness but more systemic inflammation.
could possibly try salmon oil, or krill oil and see if you feel batter.

Oh my gosh. I wondered where these ache in both buttocks was coming from. I started 2000mg of omega 3 about 5 weeks ago. I'm trying to avoid statins and help coronary heart disease.
I thought well this is one area I've not had achiness in 13 years? It doesn't feel like nerve pain, it feels like I've started a new exercise routine and am using my butt muscles.

kudzuslipper you may be right. I did not take any yesterday or today and I noticed some improvement.
map1131 yes, that is how I feel as well. My butt muscles feel overworked.

I think I'll cut back to 1000mg a day. I did some research on this today. Maybe 2000mg is just too much for my system.
Ellen, I did see some reference/warning to fish oil causing some kidney issues. It warned about lower back pain and that general area. I thought of you.
I've done omega's and fish oils in the past, but not at the high doses???? Might switch to krill oil if it continues.
