Topic: Flying with IV meds, supplies, & port with the needle in--a problem?

I may fly this Christmas. How do you deal with bringing IV abx and other meds (in syringes) plus supplies (saline and heparin flushes, syringe pump, etc.)?
Can I bring it in carry-on? If so, is there any problem there? Or what about checked luggage? With checked luggage, however, it may freeze in the cold hold, and what if they lose my luggage??!!
I'm not sure if I will go, but I have to decide this am, as the fares are escalating precipitously, and the seats are disappearing.
Lastly, for those who have or know about ports---I've flown before with my port no problem, but never when I was accessed
(with the needle in). Does that pose a problem, ie, the TSA putting me through the third degree?

I flew with my picc line in and all my meds(saline, rocephin, hep, etc) in zip loc bags that were labeled. That was 10 yrs ago, and I had no problem.
I would do what Rumigirl suggests and call the airlines with questions. Get the name of the person you speak with (i would ask for a supervisor) and I would definitely get a note from my doctor.

I flew last month and brought all my supplies with me in my carry on with no issues.
Do a search and you can find the TSA rules. You need to take everything out of your carry on into the little bins.
I brought a script for the drugs. I had IV Rocephin in the balls no issue, pre filled syringes no issues. Each way trip they did test my Mepron but nothing else.
Don't check your supplies or meds in case they lose your check luggage.

Thank you! Yes, I would NOT check the meds & supplies in case they lost my luggage!
I also read online that with some pumps there is a problem with them going through the x-ray machine. I'll have to call Infuserve about my syringe pump, although I doubt that it would be a problem. Not sure it would have to go through the x-ray machine.
I know that my port doesn't set off any alarms, but not sure if the needle in does.
We may or may not be flying anyway----not sure yet. I wish the heck that I could make some progress, so whether I am up to it or not is not a constant issue year in and year out. Sigh.
My husband was reminding me what a hard time I had 2 years ago physically. I had THREE severe medical issues that would have sent any normal person to the ER. But knowing how awful
and useless that is for me as a complicated Lyme patient, I toughed it all out on my own as usual. Plus, it was Christmas and out of town to boot. Sigh again.

I flew overseas in 2010 with IV supplies and drugs -one month worth of IV therapy without any problems. It was summer time and I had short sleeves T shirt PICC line visible. Went trough 3 international airports and no questions asked.
I had doctors prescription that stated medical necessity of caring all my drugs with my passport.
