I am a mother of two precious boys, and need a doctor or doctors names who can treat Lyme, Epstein Bar, and other co-infections.

My current doctor ran a Lyme Screening test, which I tested positive. On the same lab paperwork it showed results of the western blot test. One of the bands were positive. But my doctor considered it "non-acute".

An EBV showed positive results, on both EBV IGG tests.

My doctor prescribed me Acyclovir 800 mg, to try to help my EBV, but that is it. The Acyclovir hasn't helped.

Interestingly a few months back, we thought that one of our parakeets had an infection which can be very contagious to humans. My children were put on an age appropriate antibiotic, and my husband and myself were put on Doxycycline 100 mg twice a day for 21 days.

I remember feeling the best I had felt in years. But it didn't last very long. And the parakeet did not have the infection that we all thought she had. But I wondered why I felt so much better initially- What do I have that responded some to Doxycycline?

And that is where I began researching for symptoms of memory loss, brain fog, confusion, extreme fatigue, muscle and joint pain, muscles feel like they are burning at times, depression, anxiety, insomnia, and the list goes on.

I have been prescribed a medication for just about every ailment, and I desperately want to find the root cause, or the multiple root causes of these symptoms and infections.

I am becoming extremely concerned about my memory, concentration, etc. problems. I have two young boys who need their mother, and my health is declining.

Like just about every story I read, I too was very active. I love the outdoors, exercising, riding horses, playing in the park or yard with my boys, traveling, and so on. Now, it takes every bit of energy for me to get out of bed and dressed and ready for the day. I get so depressed because just to sit and play a game on the bed, or do anything that involves mental energy...I just cannot do it most of the time with my two precious boys.

This is my first post on a forum. I apologize in advance if I didn't type or do something in the post that I should or should not do.

Again, thank you for helping me find a doctor in Tennessee and/or Georgia.

Oh, and I forgot to tell you that I remember being bit by a tick, but it was many years ago. I am in my 40's and my health has been declining dramatically over the last several years.

Thank you for sharing your stories and information. And thank you in advance for helping me find a Lyme Literate Doctor who can help me.

Dear A
You share a story very similar to mine. I think you should post your request for a Dr. under the "Seeking a Doctor" Thread. New ones post "Seeking a Dr in Tenn/Ga" for example.
This way the list hosts will see it easier and be able to help you better.
BTW, welcome aboard and I'm sorry you have to be here like the rest of us. [Wink]
Hope you find your answers.

Hope you've received a couple referrals by now in Seeking -

It's tragic how you or anyone are being told positive tests don't matter - they do - they show you have the illness.

I suggest you study Lyme now - I call it going to Lyme school to learn about the spirochetal bacteria and how they behave - then you will better understand your symptoms.

Treatment occurs in three categories - kill/deter the organisms, detox, and fortify the body.

It can be helpful to google the Burrascano 2008 guidelines for some of this treatment. You can also use the search function at the top of the page to type in any word or phrase to see archived threads on topics.

As you read what people do, keep in mind we're all different in how we respond to treatments and that each of us needs to discover what's going to work. Some testing can help, too.

It will take some time to treat, but you will feel better, and that's our goal - to become more functional so we can also be there for others in our lives who need us to be there for them!

May I also add... the world has changed. Infected ticks can be randomly anywhere in vegetation, on wood and on animals. Every area can be tick-dragged to find out the percentage of infected ticks.

So we need protective behavior these days, starting with tick repellent on us, pets, horses, etc. Also practicing protective behavior outdoors and after returning inside.

You can read a Tick Protection thread at the top of Medical Questions, also sites like www.lymedisease.org and www.treatthebite.com address protective habits,

and maybe folks know of some others that list protective habits for children and adults, pets and yes, the environment also - the changes we need to be making, so you and yours don't become infected/reinfected.

It's a big job, changing our habits and we are engaged in that communicative work worldwide.

Fyi, research scientists are also working on effective tick repellents.

Thank you Robin123, Cozywoman...Cozynana [Smile] - but I hope you are cozy right now [Smile] . .. And thank you KentuckyWoman for the warm and supportive welcome.

I am still learning my way around this website and was reading the forum today, and realized I didn't know how to go back and check my post.

And I was already "searching" for 'depression', 'anti-depressants', etc. and so when I read your responses you all lifted my spirits so much!

I have been so depressed, tired, anxious so to see your posts written to support me- means so much.

Thank you for taking the time and thought to write. I know how hard it is to have the energy to type, think, and process any thoughts.

You all are a blessing! I feel cared about today and it is because of all of you. [Smile]
