I was put on Doxy, Ceftin and Planquinel and I am only taking Doxy and Ceftin. I am just too scared to take the Planquinel (sorry about the spelling) right now.

Is Planquinel the cyst buster or is ceftin...or neither.

Opinions?

Thank you.

In my opinion Plaquinel is one of the safest drugs of all the common script given for Lyme and co's.

Some say it's a mild cyst buster, and is also commonly given along with a macrolide to help create a less acidic cell structure so the ABX will work better.

It's side effects on vision problems are over blown. If worried get an eye exam to develop a baseline, then have them checked periodically.

Our LLMD prescribed plaquinel for our daughter to help other abx (azith, mino, malarone, tindamax) work better. I was initially frightened as well and actually discontinued it after reading about potential complications.

But after some discussion with the LLMD we ended up using it, along with the others in a pulsed protocol (4 days on, 3 days off). Our daughter had none of the side effects, and it was only after this 6 month protocol that we were able to wean her off abx with no relapse. We continue with herbal protocols.

Just be aware of the potential side-effects and discontinue if you develop a problem.

Take the plaquenil. It's not that big a deal. And yes, it is a mild cyst buster.
