i was getting to where i could barely get out of bed or even up from the soda. so stiff and sore, i walked like i was 100 years old.
so i toughed it out and started walking around the lake. it's a little over one mile. i wear good shoes and take it slow.
i've been doing it for two weeks and while i can say i have more energy, i am still in pain. after i finish walking my face is still red and i'm short of breath. it takes about 25 minutes cause i'm slow.
my hips hurt so bad when i get in the car i groan loud enough for everybody in the parking lot to hear me!!
i thought when i started the exercise i would miracously stop hurting -- NOT!!!
any tips on how to walk and not kill myself in the process??

Walking like being 100 years old was one of my main symptoms also. Fortunately, the Cowden Herbs improved me enough so that I too have started to get more exercise. In my case, I'm riding my mountain bike. As soon as I finish this post, I'm going to go ride 4 miles, which isn't much considering I used to ride between 7 and 10 miles a day.
Like you, by the time I get done with the 4 miles, I'll be in misery. In my case, my feet and legs will be numb and I'll be fatigued and feel nauseous (which I hate).
I think the bottom line for both of us is that starting to exercise will not miraculously fix things - at least not immediately. However, it will build muscle and that will certainly help over time.
As they say - no pain, no gain!

If you are in that much pain then you are doing too much. My biggest issue is pain in both my hips as well. I get up every day, go to work, come home take care of my kids etc. There is no way I could add in any exercise right now as it would only serve to aggravate the pain.
I definitely don't believe in the "no pain no gain" school of thought especially for someone dealing with lyme. My LLNP as well as the PT i was seeing agreed.
