Does anyone know if it's okay to take turmeric with or close to antibiotics? I know some herbs and supplements especially those that aid with digestion can alter the potency of antibiotics. I do not need to make my combo any stronger. Is turmeric one that should be taken away from abx?

Also, I'm taking about 1200-1600 per day is that what most people take or is it too low? I'm having a lot of pain and a massive herx so I just started to try it. How long does it usually take to see some changes in pain levels?

Hi- I take mine with probiotics, so at least 2-3 hours from an antibiotic.

As far as dose, sometimes it depends on the quality/type of product-

Currently I am taking Enhansa, and take 1200 mg a day.

I don't see why it would need to be taken away from antibiotics??? Does it kill anything????

I take mine 2-3 times a day.. about 6-8 hours apart.

I use NOW brand curcumin.

No, I guess it probably doesn't need to be away from antibiotics,

I just tend to take my healing and liver stuff away from the 'killers'.

Well I know that enzymes have to be taken away from antibiotics because they break them up differently. I wasn't sure if Turmeric did something similar even though it's not an enzyme.

I was mainly adding it to try to get a handle on pain, but I was pleased to find out through some research that it may have some anti-malarial properties to be used for babesia. I also saw that a LLMD recommends it for herxing as it lowers inflammation due to quinolinic acid and cytokines. That's good news since I'm in a massive herx and I'm also not able to take Mepron. My Babesia protocol is not the strongest right now.

Enhansa is used here as well. I read somewhere to take probiotics at the same time as curcumin.

Of course, I can't find where I read that now.

That's interesting, momintexas!

Curcumin is also a factor in preventing cancer. Can't remember if it works against cancer once it takes hold, but it probably does.

Can you just use turmeric from the spice cupboard? How much of it would you take?
