So my old LLMD kept me on same abx combo for 4 months plus before changing and then only if i got worse. my new one seems to change once a month. what's the deal? there a theory regarding changing versus not changing. as i noted in earlier posts, i wasnt getting better with old llmd so maybe not changing wasn't the way to go....

interested in thoughts.

If you are progressing on an antibiotic, why change it?

Of course if you are not improving or you are actually getting sicker then your meds should be reviewed. At that time at least one antibiotic would need to change but you may not need to change everything at once.

4 months on one antibiotic is not long. When you start making changes you'll want to take at least 6-8 wks to begin to tell if that new combo is going to work for you. You have to get through the herxing to the relief side. This is my opinion from experience.

Also, I've found that certain antibiotics work better than others for me. I've asked to stay on one for a long time now because I feel it still benefits me.

So what meds will work for you will be very individual. How long you need to be on them will also vary. This is where you are going to have to be open and communicate with your doc and you must trust your doc's guidance.

Take care:)

Personally, when I went to Dr. H. and they started playing around every month I did not like it - I want time to get accustomed to a new combo and then to see how it is affecting me.

Some combos work better than others for different people, so the trick is to find what works best for you, but it takes longer than a month I think. It certainly takes longer than a month if you are slowly introducing the new meds into your system.

Once I found the combo that worked best for me I fought with them to keep me on it & I prevailed in the end.
