Back in Nov of 2009 I came down with what I thought was a stomach flu. I had flu-like malaise, a fever, chills, GI upset (mainly diarrhea), etc. It lasted about 1/2 a day. The next say I was a bit "worn out" but better, although I still had some chills and sweats.

Looking back this was the start of my illness. The very start.

Well, last night I had the same exact thing. Mind you it has been 3 years almost to the week. I took my usual meds last night. Only difference was I took my freeze dried garlic "straight", dissolved in water, rather than after a meal. I had forgot to take it earlier after dinner.

Woke up at 1 AM and felt off. Chills, etc, mild fever. Had some diarrhea and then felt better. This AM, I am better, but still have some chills and by GI is recovering.

What the hell is this? Is this a GOOD or a BAD thing? I've read that sometimes retracing your steps during the illness is a good thing.

Before anyone comments, let me clarify that I"m 100% certain it isn't a stomach bug as no one else in my family has it. And I'm nearly certain it isn't food poisoning.

To me, this is likely either Babs or Parasites.

One thing I"ve noticed the past few months, when I do have a big flare, I usually have a BM and then feel better. Why?

I hope I"m on to something here. But worry it is just another go around of the same.

I have come to the conclusion that toxins are the cause of many symptoms and flares, especially if you feel good most days.

I noticed you are 90% ish most days.

I have been off of almost everything, down to 1 herb, for several months. Many days I have thought I need to go back on something due to little flares that last a few hours and require me going to sleep. This was always happening though when I would have a green drink which can cause a healing crisis. Maybe garlic can too?

My llmd was ready to prescribe some new antibiotics but my gut told me I didn't need them. Every week being off of multiple herbs I have gotten better and better.

Just a thought. I hope you feel better soon.

It sounds likely that you had a herx from the garlic, It is a good thing except that you want to find ways to detox to get rid of the die off toxins

There are signs to recognize retracing/healing reactions.

Usually they are after a period where you say, "I feel the best I've ever felt." The reason is that this is when your body is strong and able to go back and heal old issues.

Afterward, you usually feel even better. They happen in a period of improvement when looking over time rather than at a specific moment. If you're overall improving, it's probably a healing reaction.

Usually you're doing something to help your body. I've had them happen when I do a lot of juicing, or when I'm taking regular saunas, etc. Even with exercise.

They usually become less severe as time goes on. When I first got well, a healing reaction would knock me on my butt. Now I still get them, always with the above signs that it's healing rather than worsening, but now they're rather mild in comparison.

You mention being on meds? What meds are you on? I think retracing is more common with the body's own healing as it's being supported rather than allopathic medicine. You may have reached a new level of bugs with the garlic.

Or the garlic hit yeast and cleared toxins.
