I, like all of you, I'm sure, have spent a lot of time researching what is wrong with me. Until 5 weeks ago though, we didn't know it was Lyme... so much of what I was researching the wrong stuff.

What has happened since my diagnosis was the Dr. immediately started treatment with doxy and ceftin. After 4 days I started herxing. I herxed for 3 1/2 weeks straight, terribly, so that I could hardly even sit up. My head was reeling, my mind was gone, etc. (The whole thing is a blur, it was kind of like I was peeking out at reality from a hole I was stuck in from another dimension... I was SO sick and SO affected mentallty.)

The doses were cut in half after 3 1/2 weeks of this (no improvement), and then after 4 weeks they were stopped completely. (no improvement)

I went on a regiment of lemon juice every 3 hours alternating with burber, 12k mg of chlorella, vit c, baths with peroxide and epsom salts, and NOTHING.

I actually got worse a little more than a week after stopping the meds, so that my words were coming out all chopped up. I couldn't think or communicate, and I was shaking almost with a "seizure" type of shake.

The Dr. said ANY worse and I needed to go to the hospital to be monitored.

And she prescribed donnatal. She said it would help calm down my autoimmune system.

After all of that regimented effort to detox, a simple little pill stopped the violent, raging war inside my body within hours.

I am not BETTER. My mind is still struggling, and I am still dizzy when I move... I can't stand up for long or turn my head very much, but I am a person again. I am back from wherever I was.

My questions are:

The dead spirochetes that we were trying to hard to flush out are ALL still there, right? This drug is just setting my body at ease about it?

If so, I assume I should still be trying JUST as hard to detox, right?

Did I detox at all? Or did EVERYTHING just sit in my system?

Another prescription for detoxing is coming in the mail, hopefully the beginning of next week. Hopefully that will give progress.

I'm pretty much "right on the line" teetering between partial functionality and where ever I was for the last 5 weeks. (When I took 1 pill instead of 2, there was a marked difference... started to shake again, loos the ability to communicate in a way that made sense, etc, very quickly.) I want to understand this as much as I can, but I can't find much on donnatyl and Lyme... this whole things is SO confusing to me, so any help understanding it would be great.

My Dr. said there was a "cytocline storm" (sp?) and my autoimmune system was overactivated. I'm thinking we just stopped the loop on my end, and the lyme and everything that was making me so very sick is still very much there, just masked at the moment?

Thanks.

If you want to learn more about cytokines this article should help. This web site also has a lot of good info on it as well.

I would be very interested in finding out what the other med is that you will be using for detox as this is an area I struggle with as well.
