i don't know why, other than candida, i feel better when taking diflucan. problem is i can't get doctors to prescribe it.

it's like lyme. they don't believe in candida or if they do, they only give 2-3 days and that's it.

i'd like to ask my gastro for it but am afraid. so i'm thinking of telling them my symptoms, the old thrush, white furry tongue, and seeing if i can get some diflucan.

i wish this were an otc med but it's not. and i don't think anything otc is as effective.

how do you get your doctor to prescribe the diflucan, assuming he's not a llmd?

I don't know how you get diflucan from the regular docs.

I know my dad got it from a regular doc when he got a white tongue, gas, bloated, and didn't feel well.

The doctor told my dad he had thrush.

You may want to show them the white tongue and see what they say. Good Luck.

Find a good doctor! They are out there!

Most GI drs will give at least 2 wks worth if they have evidence of thrush or other testing.

My LLMD told me that it probably treats some bacteria as well as fungus.

So, you may feel better because it is targeting a specific infection that nothing else does. I know it does things for me that nothing else touches.

Most doctors do not want to prescribe it because it is hard on the liver and they typically don't buy into a candida infection unless you are just about at deaths door.

Just started a second round of diflucan due to thrush that has now once again mutated into black furry tongue. It was starting to go down into my throat, so I am on a two week cycle now.

When the candida is thriving, I really feel like I could crawl into a hole and never move, eat, drink, etc. talk to your doc, take pics of your tongue if evidence of thrush, and explain specifically how it helps you. Good luck.

Here is a study I came across yesterday:
http://planetthrive.com/2007/10/diflucan-for-lyme/

Apparently it may have some action against Lyme.
