My dad has been bugging me to try iodine, so I finally took some today. I have been scared to try it cause it seems everything causes a bad reaction.
About an hr after I took it I had a short burst of good mood and just felt kinda happy. I suppose it could have been random but I was wondering what others had experienced with taking iodine. If it has caused good or bad reactions and was it helpful?

I started taking 2 drops of 5% Lugol's iodine in the mornings with some apple cider vinegar b/c I've read about the great benefits of the two and have noticed it does help a little with the energy factor as opposed to when I do not take them.
From what I've read we are all deficient in iodine due to foods and environment. This is just what I read from the comments on the amazon website under the product and peoples comments.
If it works and is a good thing why not..

My naturopathic doctor put me on a huge dose which caused me to feel really wired. I stopped that after 2 days and went to a much lower dose. After a week or so I started to feel really sick and after some research figured out that I was probably detoxing bromide and halides. That's a good thing but it made me feel sick. Eventually I didn't feel sick when taking iodine.
If taken in a high dose (sorry not sure exactly how high), your thyroid can be suppressed.
It is a good antibacterial.
All in all I think it is very useful but I would use it cautiously. Iodine and tyrosine are combined to make the thyroid hormones t3 and t4.

The problem is that doctors do not agree (again) about whether or how much iodine to take, especially if you have hashimotos.
Maintream tells us that most of us get enough iodine in our food. Some regions are deficient in iodine so that was where the issue was thought to be, and why salt was iodized.
But if you have autoimmune thyroiditis (hashimotos), some say do not take iodine. Others say it is OK.
Currently my thyroid antibodies are higher than in the past and I don't know whether to continue taking lugols iodine or not because this can also be caused by increasing lyme symptoms.
What can't anything be simple?

I took it before I started T3, and eventually it made me feel worse--and not just from halide detox. I have an RT3 problem, and I believe it made the RT3 levels highter.
Now that all my thyroid hormone comes from the T3 that I take, I am free to take iodine with only detox effects, which for me wore off after a few week. I take 8 drops a day.

I found it helpful. I am taking the MagNascent Iodine. It seems better than the other brands. I don't take alot & I take it every other day or so as per dowsing.
I used to have cold hands & feet & that went away. It's probably good to be careful with it if you have any specific thyroid issues.
Some people also use it in a nebulizer for hidden lungworm. There's alot of info about it on Curezone & here:
