I am hoping someone can help me and tell me what these resuts mean. I don't see my llmd until next week and I am freaking out a bit. So, I just received my metametrix stool test results.
It says I am positive for aeromonas bacteria.
I am positive for yeast/ fungi - taxonomy unavailable.
Positive for parasites - taxonomy unavailable.
Drug resistant genes to gentamycin, kenamycin and tobramycin.
I am low on SCFA (short chain fatty acids) and then it breaks this section down into sub-categories. So, I am low on N-butyrate, which it says is used to sustain the normal activity of colon epithelial cells, low on butyrate which lowers the risk of colitis and colorectal cancer, high on acetate and low on valerate. -That is all for these sub-categories. So, does this mean that I have colorectal cancer to look forward to in my future in addition to lyme?
Then, I am high on anti-gliadin sIga, which it says is a screening marker for gluten sensitivity. -So, does this mean I am gluten intolerant? I don't feel any different when I eat gluten. I have gone off before and feel the same.
Also, I am low on Elastase 1. My level is 154. It says that numbers between 100-200 show moderate pancreatic insufficiency. - What the heck does this mean and can it be fixed? Does that mean that in addition to colorectal cancer, I can also look forward to pancreatic cancer in my future?
I am obviously very happy that parasites showed up bc I feel like now I can treat for them and that is a missing piece of the puzzle. But, as far as everything else, I want to cry. I feel overwhelmed bc I don't know what any of it means and I don't know if any of it can be fixed. If anyone knows anything about any of this, would you please respond? I know I prob sound dramatic right now, but not knowing scares me.
If you know about any of this stuff and can explain it in layman's terms, I would appreciate it. I feel like my brain doesn't work well when I am feeling this overwhelmed. Thank you so much for your time!

This test says basically that you have some kind of fungus, bacteria and parasitic infection in your gut. And these organisms may be resistant to typical prescription medications for these infections.
Also, low short-chain fatty acids means it would be good if you could take a couple tablespoons of coconut oil daily...this will reduce your risk for bowel inflammation and also reduce risk of cancer (chronic inflammation can lead to cancer).
Yes, you are positive for gluten sensitivity. When you did your gluten-free trial before, how long did you eat gluten-free?
It takes a minimum of 6 weeks for gluten to clear from the gut, and an additional 6-8 (or more) weeks for the gut to heal from the damage caused by the gluten.
So it is good to go on a gluten-free trial that is at a minimum 4 months, but 6 months is better.
And then challenge gluten at the end of the 6 months to see what happens (if you wish).
I did this and the challenge at the end of the 6 months gluten-free told me I most certainly was gluten sensitive and need to stay gluten-free for life.
Pancreatic insufficiency means your pancreas is not producing enough digestive enzymes and it would be good if you could take a comprehensive digestive enzyme product with meals.
Since we don't know the cause of your pancreatic insufficiency, I can't speak to whether or not it can be fixed...but I suspect the infections have something to do with this, and getting the infections (parasites, Lyme, etc.) dealt with will likely improve lots of things for you.
