If you're taking valtrex, what dose are you on? I am on 2g/day (1g am & pm). I started in August and had a large herx most of that month, then felt a lot better starting in September. Since December or so have felt a lot more tired and not as mentally sharp, so wondering if there would be benefit in the higher dose.

My EBV reactivated in June, though the titers aren't incredibly high. I could hardly do anything in July.

Thanks in advance!

I'm supposed to be on 1 gram, 3x/day for a month to suppress the viruses, then 1 gram 2x/day after that to maintain.

I have to wait until after parasite treatment to start back on it.

I've been taking 1 g 2 x day, but my insurance company will now only cover 1 g per day. got a letter a couple of weeks ago. My LLNP thinks the new dosage should be adequate for me. I have been taking for quite a while.

Valtrex and lysine together are supposed to help prevent further hearing loss and tinnitus by reducing inflammation caused by herpes virus in the auditory nerve area. I hope it will continue working at the lower dose.

My insurance only covered 1 gram/day. I appealed myself, attached actual viral labs and wrote out a statement that:

"I've had fevers everyday for x amt of time, antibiotics haven't helped...my Dr wants me on 3 gram/day for a month to suppress the viruses then 2 gram after to maintain."

They approved the 1 mo of 3grams.

You have the right to file ex. a coverage rule exception.

Correction: 1st my NP requested a Prior Auth and was denied. Then I requested it, was denied. Then I formally, in writing requested a coverage rule exception and provided labs.

I am heading downstairs to look at our dose of valtrex. I didn't know there were different doses. It is so big I couldn't imagine anything larger. My boys only take it once a day. Has me wondering.

The 1 gram pills are huge. Mine recently changed from white to blue, too. Not sure what that was about.

My previous NP was concerned with me using Valtrex long term as it can cause kidney and liver damage. Anyone aware of this?
