I have been reading about the benefits from taurine 500 mgs 3 times a day for brainfog, elimination of neurotoxins and increase in glutathione.
Has anyone seen results with this?
My son is struggling with cognitive issues and already takes numerous supplements. If I add something else, I want to make sure it is beneficial.
We travel to Chicago on the 4th and I want to have more information before discussing it with the doctor.
Thanks for any help you can give.

I can't vouch for all of its proposed benefits, but I do believe taurine has lowered my anxiety and possibly aided in better digestion over the past month. I have been on 500mg 3x a day.
If it has raised glutathione, that would be fine by me!

I am currently taking it, 500mg twice a day. I am a vegan, and as such, am not getting any from my diet. As a result, I am being careful to take this when energy testing (I use a pendulum for this) indicates it is beneficial. Testing indicates its usefulness for me off and on.
I can't say that I notice anything specifically coming from taking this. But, I take many pills and always have various treatments coming and going. So, something has to be very substantial to notice it amongst all the other things going on.

It has been a very good supplement for my daughter- slightly calming -
and believe me, we've been through all kinds. I thought it was good for bile production, making one less chemically sensitive (like from chlorine pools)
and somehow good for neurotransmitters.

My husband is taking 1/4 teaspoon of taurine 3 times a day. He's been taking it for a few years now - started before his Lyme diagnosis.
At the time he was treating adrenal fatigue.. wonder if he should take more? How many mgs are in a 1/4 teaspoon?

Dear Kari,
I've been taking Taurine for a long time, but I started it for leg cramps, not for cognative issues.
What worked the best for me on cognative issues was chlorella followed 30 minutes later by cilatro, as recommended by Dr. K and posted to LymeNet by GiGi. This has given me slow but steady improvement, whereas nothing else had.
However, recently, after really studying the notes on the conference, "A Deep Look Beyond Lyme," available at TheBetterHealthGuy website, I've started using an inversion table 3-6 times a day to increase blood flow (and oxygen) into the brain and OUT of it (taking out toxins) as well.
This can be done no matter what supplements or pharmaceuticals are being used.
One Naturopathic Doctor I know recommends inversion plus a low-concentration of food-grade hydrogen peroxide in distilled water as a home-delivered treatment comparable to hyperbaric oxygen in its results. This is part of his protocol for autistic kids with the express purpose of getting more oxygen into their brains so healing can occur.
I have found the addition of inversion inexpensive and very, very effective. (I haven't done the peroxide part yet---one step at a time, for me!)
Best,
Cass A
