Hello everyone and Happy New Year! How long after starting treatment did it take to feel improvement? I've been sick for 6 years and diagnosed 6 months ago. I've been on bactrim ds and started monodox last month along with plenty of supplements. It seems like the abx chase the infection around my body. Some symptoms get better and new ones appear. The back pain is intense and now I feel like the infection has made a little home in my head. I've always had some strange head rushes, but I feel off kilter, since I started the monodox, almost like vertigo is slightly setting in. Any advice is appreciated since I have 2 little ones to take care of and one of them just got out of the hospital, lucky me! Here's to a healthier 2013 for all and thanks in advance!

It must be so hard to be on treatment and have little ones to care for!!

To answer your question, it is hard to say. We are all so different in how we respond.

I had a discussion with my Lyme doc about the level of treatment that I could do because I take care of a disabled son at home. So we try to keep the treatment not too heavy duty and I can stay functional. Meanwhile, because of that it may take longer to get where I want to be health-wise.

I hope you are able to get some help with the kiddos.

Best,
Karen

Thanks Karen! I'm approaching my treatment more or less the same way you are so that I can function. I've been told you must get sicker to get better, i'm assuming that means i'll feel like death for awhile and then slowly feel better. I haven't gotten there yet and my kids are only 2 and 6. But on the flip side, I just want to feel good again and be able to focus on a task without getting frustrated and taking xanax to calm down. I hope you too get help and are able to rest some yourself. Your job as a mom is certainly not easy. :-) I wish you all the best!

It is so different for everybody. I was sick for 6 or 7 years before I was diagnosed. I spent about 2 1/2 years treating, and then I was symptom free and went off of all of my meds for a whole year. Then I relapsed, or whatever happens, and I've been back to treating the last 3 years.
