While on long-term ABX you need to take high quality probiotics like:

Theralac or VSL#3

You also need to take Sacchromyses Boulardii, another type of probiotic that's not included in the above or most other blends. Floristor brand is recommended

get started asap.

You also must follow a low carb, anti-candida diet.

In addition to diet and probiotics, two other products I think highly of:

Kombucha - fermented beverage....excellent for rebuilding the gut.

Candex - It's an enzyme based supp that eats the yeast so the healthy balance can restore itself within the gut. Because it eats the yeast there is no die-off (so no unpleasant reactions).

Ah thank you will look into that!

However my test came back as having no yeast

I was wondering are these test results something you would expect to see in someone with lyme?
cos i read somewhere that low elastase is unusual

thanks!

My current plan involves:

Miso and fermented veg.
My diet: is dairy free, gluten free, sugar free (apart from whole fruit) and as low in carb as possible, and am vegetarian

I was on probiotics for awhile but then came off then, how long should i take them for?

You must stay on probiotics as long as you are taking antibiotics and for one month after you stop taking antibiotics.

Antibiotics kill your gut flora along with the germs you are trying to kill. So, with probiotics, you are constantly replacing the flora that the antibiotics have killed.

You have to take probiotics at least 2 hours after antibiotics so that the antibiotics don't kill the probiotics also.

According to Burrascano, most fruit is too high in sugar to be eaten safely (sugar feeds yeast), so all you can have in the way of fruit are a few berries after a full meal. (You can have all the lemons and limes that you want.)

The discussion of this starts on page 34:

If you are not on antibiotics and if you don't have symptoms of candida (like a white coated tongue first thing in the morning and bloating), then you don't need the anti-yeast/low carb diet. You can eat fruit, bread, etc.

The low carb diet is to keep a person on antibiotics from getting yeast. Yeast feeds on carbs. So, as long as you don't have yeast/candida, you don't have to be on a low carb diet.

I don't know anything about your test results, so I can't speak to that.

Thank you very much for getting back to me.

Thats interesting to know i didn't realise that, I will probably still stay on a low carb diet as I feel better on and have been told by some that the lyme feeds off carbs and sugars.
