I know lyme and co can cause some very strange symptoms, but this one is driving me nuts. I will try my best to describe it in hopes that maybe someone else can relate. It was one of my very first symptoms then it went away and now after four weeks on zith and rifampin it has surfaced again.

It's not pain in the sense that we know it. It's more of a sensation of pulling, tingling, electricky, all at the same time starting at the base of the skull, down the back of the throat, into the arms, down the spine and down into the knees. It feels like your body wants to jump out of your skin. Very uncomfortable. Muscles get tight. And it is constant once it starts. It feels like you need to be stretched or adjusted, but that doesn't help it.

I don't know if I explained it good enough, but it is very uncomfortable. I keep bending my chin forward to my chest often to try and clear the feeling but it doesn't clear it.

Anyone knows what I am talking about? I am even wondering if it's something else and not lyme.

The tight muscles part makes me think of low magnesium.

The liver uses magnesium when it makes glutathione to detoxify poisons.
The antibiotics are killing Lyme bacteria, which leave nerve poisons behind, and the liver is stressed with the extra work.

You could take magnesium and fish oil for liver support, and see if any of your symptoms improve.

Has your doctor ordered regular tests to check your liver function?
I read about Rifampin here, and saw that it can be toxic to the liver.

I get an electric shock feeling in my tongue sometimes, but not throughout my whole body.

this sounds very much like what I call my 'seizures'. I used to also convulse with it. I agree with Carol in PA. Magnesium has helped me alot with reducing the intensity of this. I take 500mg/daily.

I also take 3-4 Epsom Salt baths a week now, dry brushing my skin all over as per Dr instructions before soaking 20-30 m.

She's also right about testing the liver function. My Dr did that for me and found issues there to deal with. I am on glutathione and detoxing. I haven't even started abx yet.

I also have a sensation during these episodes like I'm trying to dump bugs out of my right ear. It's not painful, but very, VERY weird feeling and you are right. It is very difficult to describe.

you say you started out with the symptoms and then later, after tx, they reappeared. I don't know much yet, but from all I've read on this Net, that sounds like Herx to me.
