My 17 yr old son has been left with fatigue, bad enough to interfere with his life after fighting a lyme relapse last year. Completed antibiotic treatment June 2012. Was tested for lyme and co-infections, all negative. Any idea what this is? Dr. C of NY says unless other symptoms are back for over 2 weeks, it will just take time. It's been 7 months and getting ready for a second opinion. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you check for EBV ?
Or maybe Babs is still fighting back. In my opinion its the toughest to beat down. You can't rely on lab tests alone, especially for co's.

Have you checked him for adrenal fatigue?
The book "Adrenal Fatigue" by James Wilson is very helpful. I feel it was the best money I spent to get answers for my husband.
He's also treating Lyme & babesia.

He's not fully over Lyme Disease which includes the co-infections, as well. Mycoplasma, EBV, HHV6, or a number of pathogens that do not show up in testing can cause this. Treatment should not stop until you have NO symptoms for at least two months.
Seek another LLMD, IMO.

What ILADS is & WHY you need an ILADS "educated" or "minded" Lyme Literate doctor (whether MD or ND, or both) - starting with assessment / evaluation. -

please post the antibiotic treatment that was done, duration, which antibiotics/combination and dosage, i.v. or oral.
chronic lyme is not just lyme its a result of more than one bacteria or parasite together with probably borrelia. Thats why the ILADS says that lyme is an infection transmitted by ticks but not lyme is only borrelia infection.
If your son has not done any kind of parasite treatment, this is still to do.
In my opinion viruses are just surfing on the wave of a damaged immune system and a damaged methylation and detox cycle because of chronic lyme. In my case, and I have chronic lyme some virus titers were very high but I only improved with antiparasitic and antibacterial therapy together with methylation cycle therapy, vitamins and so on.
In my opinion if he had chronic lyme an is still not well, he still has chronic lyme, let it be just borrelia or some other tick-born bugs like bart, babs, myco and so on.
Its a very long way to go but if done consequently as I do it you will see good results.
As mino and doxy are used frequently I want to say that the old version the first antibiotic of this group: Tetracycline helped me really much more than 600mg i.v. doxy. This my be because you ca take significant higher dosages and it is transported into the cells better than the other two. Also Ketek is one of my favorite and Flagyl, which can be very hard at the beginning.
If you say all tests were "negative" do you mean there were no bands in the western blot anymore or do you mean "negative" by CDC definition (which is quite useless)
let me know.
