just bought it from a local pharmacy on the advice of our pediatrician.

jury is still out especially since the family is so over everything I suggest re: avoiding the flu.

If it were up to me, they'd all be taking elderberry extract, along with oscillinococcum (or however you spell it), plus monolaurin and/or OLE along with 5000 mg Vit D3 and 1000 mg Vit C.

2 years ago my daughter, son-in-law and 2 grandsons all got the H1N1 flu.

My youngest grandson, who was 4 yrs old at the time, was the last one to get sick and he was the only one to take Sambucol black elderberry extract.

He recovered faster than any of the others.

I keep it on hand...just bought some today.

Here are 2 links. I tried to use tinyurl to make the first one shorter, but it wasn't working correctly for me today for some reason...

I was in the health food store and overheard an employee talking about elderberry syrup to take as a protection against the flu. She said to take two teaspoons a day.

I bought some...just started taking it today too!

The syrup has so much sugar in it (even if a good source though not all are) so best reserved for use as a cough syrup.

The Sambucol black elderberry extract is excellent brand when a syrup is needed - say - to calm a cough.

Elderberry TINCTURE as drops - or a powdered EXTRACT in capsules - is best for ongoing use.

These are much more economical, too.

I have the sambucol elderberry extract. Good luck to me in having them all take it.

There is only one family member I have control over re: meds/supps.

I think the rest of them might think I am overboard on my position about how important it is to take D3, C, etc etc etc.

I've been interested in vitamins/herbals since I was a teenager (just a few years ago lol). I was reading about this stuff way before lyme entered our collective life. I know what I am talking about. I've emailed them links and discussed the value of supplements/herbs ad nauseum.

So can I just say I'm a bit frustrated that no one is listening to me? UGH!

I am glad to see that I am not the only person who is super passionate about herbs . . . . that people (it seems) tolerate my ranting. But I just can't help myself sometimes. I try to keep it down to a dull roar.
