Hello Folks:
I haven't read this forum in several years, but at one time was very active on it. I see some of the old "handles" and am wondering how people Dx'd over 10 years ago are doing now.
I respond very favorably to antibiotics for Lyme, and have taken them (short term) about every 3 years since my Dx in 2001. I think I have had about 3 relapses over 10 years. I don't think they were re-infections ( I realize US Drs don't believe Lyme can be chronic). I was not treated for Lyme for many years after initially contracting it, so think the bacteria had time to disseminate, and hide well, so I may never kill it all. I think Babesia is cured as I have never had any Babesia symptoms recur.
In spite of Lyme, I am doing excellent especially when compared to the period of years I didn't know what was wrong with me.
I'd like to hear from the older members & how they're doing now.. Hopefully well.

Well, I was first treated in 2006 and had been sick for a very long time. I was treated for about 2 years and was good for 3 and then slowly because of a very stressful time in my life ..... the Lyme came back. Might have some Babs issues but the bart is gone. Symptoms for over 12 years, dx with lyme about 4 yrs ago.. Treatment off and on and still no real improvement.. Some good days and some horrible days.. Did see a LLMD Negative PCR, negative Babs and Bart positive bands Igg 30,34 and 41, all igm bands negative all tested thru Igenex ..
Treatment only with oral abx.. Off now but thinking of going back, never improved much but lately getting worse..

I recognize your name from I&I, I think. Or maybe prohealth?
Anyway, I was diagnosed in 2004. I did two years of treatment with some being IV. Then I treated again in 2008 and then recently again.
I always fight going back on treatment. Then when I finally do, I wonder why I did not re-start sooner. I too, respond well to antibiotics. Not that I don't herx, but they always seem to improve my level of functioning.
So, are you having a relapse now? That was the title to the post.

Kgg: Yes - I was on I & I until it was shut down by an individual that was "litigation happy" and sued a few people for opinions that didn't aligned with his.
I just recently had a relapse. And tested positive again. But Minocycline brought me back to the land of the living.
I am just wondering how many people have had multiple relapses, and how they fared.

I am new to this forum but have been dealing with lyme since 1989. I have been totally off abx for 12 years and changed my diet, do lots of herbs and supplements.
function quite well but have to be careful I don't get too tired or stressed. I took abx for almost 5 years straight and the side effects became unbearable.

I remember you, bpeck. You were taking the "first" Babesia pharmaceutical or something close to that?
Treating parasites eventually reduces the excessive biofilm most of us are holding covering up remnants of the original infections. That I am sure contributes to relapses.
