My Doctor feels that Ivermection can have a negative effect on the metabolic pathways.
Does anyone on Ivermectin have a doctor that knows about this medicine? What do they tell you about the long term effects?
I just wonder as I have been on it a while.
It's actually an insecticide.

Maybe switching to some antiparasitic herbs and salt/c would be a good choice at this juncture. I have noticed several people here have done this and say the results are just as good.
Plus you are giving yourself some added minerals with the sea salt and both vit C and salt support the adrenals.

Hadn't heard anything about that, but all these concocted meds are going to have some side effects here and there, it wouldn't be surprising.
I've been taking it for a couple years I guess, but only off-and-on, during a parasite protocol.
Sounds like you're taking it daily long-term. I'm curious what for?

Haley,
I don't know exactly what your doctor meant by metabolic pathway. But I do know that some antibiotics/anti-parasite/antimicrobial drugs can lower thyroid function. And when you have a low functioning thyroid (hypothyroidism) your metabolism will also be decreased.
A couple of exmples of antimicrobials that can do this are, Flagyl (metronidazole), Rifampin, some Sulfa Drugs, and Lariam.
I don't know if Ivermectin can interfere with your metabolic pathways or thyroid function. But no one may have study it's effects upon thyroid function yet. So, I guess that it is possible that Ivermectin could effect your thyroid function and your metabolic pathways.
And some people that have been diagnosed with chronic Lyme Disease have taken some of the drugs listed above and some of those people complain of feeling worse while taking those drugs and sometimes those negative effects that they feel while taking those drugs are attributed to a die-off or "herx" reaction.
But some of those people may not be experiencing a "herx" but rather some of those people's feeling worse may be due to the lowering of the thyroid hormones in their body that those drugs are causing. Usually people will feel worse when they become hypothyroid.

Micheal what type of protocol are you on. I mean for example one month on and 2 months off or what is the protocol?
I only take it once a week, but I still wonder about the long term effects. It doesn't seem like many doctors know about this drug.
Emma999 - Interesting about the thyroid.
The metabolic pathway is another way of describing the enzyme system that our body uses to metabolize.
Thank you Gael. Those sups don't seem to have the same effect for me. I may give them a shot later in treatment.

Most practitioners whom I know base the prescription of this drug on autonomic response testing of some sort.
The body tells when it is a positive and when not; the testing clearly indicates that.
The client/patient also stops taking it when it no longer tests.
If this is the published parasite/Lungworm protocol by Dr. K., it is to be taken for 14 days only accompanied and followed by some others, with the chance of a repetition at a later time. I am not aware of it being taken longterm.
That is where the benefit of energetic testing plays a big role. I can test myself before I take anything, pharma or herb, and when my body responds with a no, I do not take it or stop taking it and notify my practitioner if posssible. Many patients learn how to test these substances and it works quite well.

I have read that this drug has been used for years at a time in countries with filaria .You can google it and "bebesia or filaria" and find it is given by governments to citizens for infections. I was surprised what I found and how often it is used .
The problem here isthat we do not believe many parasites are possible in the US , despite Klapow's study on lungworm and other evidence .
I have been using iver/ praziquantel paste 2-3 timesweekly for a year and rarely need asthma meds at all . I personally think it has helped me, and I will continue pulsing it longer . I am not worried about problems because I do not take it every day, which protects my liver from storing too much . I think it is better to take this a few days a week than to ingest many herbs and pills to be able to breathe !
I do not know how reliable energy testing is as I know of no science behind it and it sounds hard to believe in IMO . If it works for some, then I am happy !
Because of the filaria found in ticks and the lungworm study I plan to take the ivermectin off and on for a long time - pulsed with breaks .
I would like to say I have more energy , but I do not . I still feel tired and fluish, but I breathe far better now.
