Even before I knew I had lyme and had the CFS diagnosis, I discovered (Per Dr. Andrew Weil) that green tea really helped me.

Even now, with antibiotics and herbal treatments, on my worst days, I must have green tea to come up out of the ditch.

Interestingly, he says green tea stops so many inflammatory processes and thinks that drinking lots of green tea every day is the best way to take it.

This is from his new book "Healing Lyme Disease Coinfections"

Rivendell,

Thanks for that detail. I've not yet ordered the book but did just order my Green Tea for this month. Can't do without it.

Love Strand's Green Earl Grey and their Green Jasmine teas, too.

You mention bio-film. Some detail here that I just came across:

http://www.doctoroz.com/videos/herbal-antibiotic-alternatives?page=3

Herbal Antibiotic Alternatives - By Pina LoGiudice, ND, LAc

Excerpts:

Oregon Grape (Berberis aquifolium): Also from the Northwest, Oregon grape contains a substance known as BERBERINE, which can stop bacteria from adhering to the walls of the intestine and urinary tract.

[I read that as possibly against bio-film ? Worth asking a LL ND or herbalist if I interpret that correctly - but the Birdsall article in the Berberine set also mentions this "feature"]

. . .

Andrographis paniculata: This Asian herb with thousands of years of traditional use is now being proven through modern research as being able to

*** disrupt the quorum-sensing system of bacteria. ***

This system helps bacteria attach to each other and thrive as a community.

Andrographis basically helps break up the bacterial “party.” . . . .

So interesting Keebler!

I have a strong herbal background and feel that all the answers to our problems are hiding in the forests around us.

I've have oregon grape tincture made by a dear friend of mine. I had no idea it has berberine in it. I was given it as a traditional liver and digestive tonic.

Well, I edited my post.

Can't find anything about green tea and biofilm as I re-read.

I don't know where I got that.

Anyway, Keebler, your teas sound so good.

I buy the cheap grocery store brand, or sometimes order in bulk from www.herbalcom.com.

Trying to stay on a tight budget.

I drink A LOT of green tea each day.

Canada, I do think our answers are in the forests. So are ticks, darn it.

I just love forests, with moss-covered logs and lots of ferns - like you and Keebler have in the northwest.

We get some of that in our appalachian region.

That's right Rivendell, nature likes balance, the problems and answers usually present together.

Like knotweed "invading" at the same time as lyme is exploding.

I'm heading out to see the forests now. Usnea (old man's bread) is a personal favourite of mine right now. I think it helps keep me well while I deal with the stress of a sick child. I'm finding it all around me these days.

What are the medical uses of usena? I've heard of it but know nothing about it.

Sounds like it must help with stress and maybe lyme?
