Looks like I'm going to have to have my gallbladder removed. I'm really scared to go under general anesthesia.
Have others here had to go under while very sick with Lyme and did it make you worse?
I have detox issues including MTHFR (homozygous C677T), KPU and something else that escapes me at the moment.

I had my gall bladder removed last year. I have MTHFR 677 and 1298. I also had adrenal problems at the time as well as everythiny listed below in my byline. The surgery and the recovery was fine no problems at all. Wishing you the best , good luck!

I had my GB out long before I knew I had Lyme/co's or methylation issues, and did fine.
Just be careful not to eat a huge meal right after waking up from surgery...the hospital I was at put this great big plate of fried chicken in front of me when I woke up, and my stomach revolted at the smell...
Also, because of my GB problems prior to surgery, I was not used to eating anything with fats or fried foods...
I did make some food special for when I first woke up, and my DH brought that in to me and it was much, much easier to handle than the hospital cafeteria food...
But otherwise, the surgery went fine for me, as did recovery.

I had my gallbladder out laparoscopically November 2011. I had some complications but I had a gallbladder full of stones. Some of the stones were stuck in the bile duct, which was a second procedure the next day.
The surgery is easy and if you are going laparascopic which is how most doctors do it now, recovery is very quick.
Everyone is different with anesthesia but it is just like taking a nap and feeling a bit groggy when you wake up.

If your hospital put fried chicken before a recent gallbladder surgery patient ... you should have sued them for professional incompetence. (Or for sadism!)
Those who lose their gallbladders must ingest fats/fatty proteins with great care, as they lack the bile necessary to digest them.

gb surg was one of my easiest...i think the iv abx before and during helps me and then the anestesia takes a few days to wear off do am have less regular pain

Is antbiotics pretty standard w/gallbladder surgery? Is this something they tell you about or they just do it without you knowing?

I never had abx and was never suggested.. I was 40 when i had it removed and feel the younger you are the easier the recovery. I had chronic cholecystitis(sp?) no stones. the hardest part for me was waking up and the nausea that followed. After that all went well.

- I don't know. Can't remember. I did talk to my surgeon about it... so I may have asked him to do that.
I would not eat fats right away either... that is crazy about the fried chicken. YUCK!

I do just fine ingesting fats after having my gallbladder out. I only eat good fats though.
