I was misdiagnosed for 6 years! Finally discovering I have Lyme. Easentially bedridden w severe neuro symptoms. A year prior to major symptoms, my liver function (AST, ALT) were repeatedly greatly elevated. Is this an indication of Lyme ? Just curious as doctors never knew why. Puzzle pieces are coming together !

Certain co-infections or Lyme itself can cause elevated liver enzymes. Do you have pain with it?
I had intermittent highly elevated ALT, AST, Alkaline Phosphate, and it ended up being partially because I had sphincter of Oddi dysfunction. With a sphincterotomy, my levels have improved!
Just don't assume it is directly Lyme related...look into other things first.
Sorry you are in the Lyme club now, but I am glad you got some answers!!

I've been in treatment for almost 3 years and the only time I have had elevated AST/Alt levels was during a three month Bart treatment protocol of Rifampin, Zith and Doxy.
Many many things can cause AST and ALT to rise. Sometimes it just spikes and returns to normal without significant treatment changes.
