I have been having eye pain for a week now. It is only the left eye and if feels like a pulled muscled behind the eye but the eye also feels sore/bruised and vision in that eye is blurry.

I have been to my primary care and an eye doctor and they don't know what is wrong but eye doctor said he didn't see anything of concern during the exam.

He kept mentioning possibility of dry eye but that just isn't sitting well with me b/c my eye doesn't feel irritated/dry/scratchy on the outside but behind the eye and only painful with movement or pressure and I would think it would be both eyes and that they would be red if dry.

The symptoms fit with iritis but he said he saw no evidence of that. There has been no improvement. Has been the same every day since it started. I've done everything I can as I've been to 2 doctors and am not sure what to think at this point.

All eye dr. said to do was lubricating eye drops and warm compresses.

Maybe parasites. Once I started treating for parasites my eye pain went away, and floaters practically gone as well.

I was just diagnosed with Iritis about a month ago... Please get a 2nd opinion from another eye doc. Or, go back to your 1st eye doc ASAP.

My iritis initially presented as pink eye. My eye doc gave me antibiotic drops... it did NOTHING! Within a week, after I developed photo-sensitivity, pain and blurred vision, I finally went back to my eye doc again. It was Iritis and 2 days later my pupil was funky shaped... the pupil stuck to the middle of the eye. Luckily, my eye is fine now and I am weening myself off the steroids.

If you have eye pain and blurry vision, something is not right... I'm not sure where you are in the Northeast, but please PM if you want the name of a Lyme Literate Eye doctor in the Boston area.

Mine did the 1st visit I was there?! I certainly question his judgement now. Needless to say, its why I sought a 2nd opinion from someone who is Lyme Literate!!

This is so incredibly discouraging. I am so fed up with jumping from doctor to doctor. I'm nearly at the point where I just have the attitude whatever will be will be.

Obviously though I don't want to go blind! Does the pupil always become funny shaped w/iritis? Mine is not (yet).

I have gone to numerous ENT's for very pronounced sinus symptoms only to be told repeatedy there's nothing wrong. I honestly feel like it would be the same thing if I were to go to another eye doctor.

Same thing with GI doctors and so on and so on and so on......

I just realized the eye pain is on the same side as an upper root canal I had done in the fall. I wonder if they could be connected. I called the endodontist and they said they could take a look at it but I don't have dental insurance!!! Also not sure how they would determine that.

Am concerned about going and paying out of pocket for them only to tell me nothing. An empty pocket at that!

I went to a neuro-opthalmologist who did all his tests, I passed them even though I couldn't look at light. I had floaters, light sensitivity, sore eye muscles and blurry vision growing. All he could offer was steroid drops and I knew those weren't a good idea for us.

The next day my chiropractor recommended I drink mangosteen juice, and when I did, all those eye symptoms disappeared in 24 hours! The juice is anti-inflammatory and there are lots of blends in healthfood stores, as well as a pure one online.

I am not a doctor nor dentist, but I doubt it has anything to do with a root canal. Lyme bacteria like the eyes, as it's one of the places without much oxygen around.

I'm at least ten years into Lyme and have eliminated or minimized most symptoms but this is something I've never had.

One thing that has been freaking me out a bit is the possibility of ankylosing spondylitis. I have severe flares of lower back pain and I did test positive for klebsiella a few years back.

This latest eye issue coincided with a lower back flare and the eye symptoms fit with iritis which is common with ankylosing spondylitis.

I will try the mangosteen juice though! Thanks for that tip! Although the eye doctor said there was no inflammation in the eye so I don't know. It may be mildly better today finally. Today is day 9.

The mangosteen juice reminds me of Nopalea. I guess it is juice from a cactus. Prickly pear maybe? Anyway, I know of someone with Lyme that swears by that stuff but no longer uses it due to cost. It is also anti-inflammatory.
