So I'm super dizzy and bumping into things and having extra bad vertigo and in bed unable to do anything, and much sicker the past few days (but also near-blacking out for months with new weird symptoms not sure what's going since as everyone knows "new weird symptoms" are sort of par for the course). Last night the dizziness was so bad I was near-blacking out even lying flat which has happened before.
Suddenly today I got an email that a very dizzy-looking, wobbly, sickly moose was spotted one street over in my neighborhood (didn't know there were moose here, but okay), seemingly exhibiting similar symptoms to me. Since I got bartonella from a sickly stray dog that was soon found dead by animal control (before I got lyme/babs from a tick), sickly animals in the neighborhood always get my interest.
So I immediately though of a tick-borne illness, then looked it up to find that moose in WINTER often have THOUSANDS of ticks on them, as per a National Geographic special from 2012 (see link below) -- so many ticks it can kill them.
Holy moly. So if there are thousands of ticks on the local moose population (possibly), that means my lack of Winter tick checks could be the issue here since it warmed up briefly over the past week and I was outside. Now thinking I could have been reinfected since the running into walls dizziness happened when I first got Lyme and babs too.
So now I'm wondering what strains of bart/babs/lyme might infect moose? I mean, it can't just be that the ticks are sucking their blood.
I just thought people might be interested in this moose thing too -- I had never heard of it.

Very true. I've seen the video before. Ticks can survive any winter, even under snow.

in northern nh moose get something called brain worm. they get sicker and sicker-weaker and weaker...and at the end they walk in circles and then drop dead.
i heard about this years ago and immedietly thougt that i mus be undiagnosed lyme.
oh-i see you know about that. so i know you are not feeling well...but the moose dont get better on their own...it doesnt matter what it is -you really need to be on treatment-hope you are of get some help...if you are that bad right now you might need someone with you

Oh wow. I have heard of the moose thing (from this board I'm sure), but the "wow" is because I really hope you are NOT re-infected. That is a big deal.
Do you have an LL doc appt soon? If not, you should get one.
I'm sorry this whole ordeal has been such a struggle for you. I know some of your history, and it blows my mind how many severe infections you get and how little help you get (personally or medically). I think you even self-diagnosed after the dog bite.
Are you on Babs' meds now? Could this dizziness be a herx?

Hi Boxer, It could "just" be a relapse because I had to go off of meds and switch to herbs again (which I have done several times the past couple of years) as I was having a hard time tolerating everything, but I was doing a little better after the switch and now seem to be going down again so who knows. It's all so confusing. But reinfection is definitely possible even this past year as I pulled *two* deer ticks off of me last summer, from barely being outside, so there are definitely a lot of them around here which is what concerns me about the moose and the realization that I've been lapsing on tick checks in the cold (don't ticks *ever* die?)!
I'm going to try to reintroduce the meds stat.
Oh and I didn't self-diagnose after the dog bite: what happened was that doctors had no idea what was wrong with me until I was later bitten by a tick (3 yrs later) and got Lyme and babs on top of the bartonella I got from the dog: then I traced it all backward as I had a record in emails of when the dog bit me, the severe heart and neuro symptoms that started almost immediately after, etc. (and I contacted animal control to find out what happened to the dog, and learned the dog was found dead soon after it had bitten me -- outdoors, not far from its home -- and it had obviously been sick when I picked it up and it bit me). But the tick bite led to testing for everything and that's when I tested pos. for bart and the rest, and randomly got Cipro which was the first thing to help my heart symptoms and why doc thought to look for bartonella.
