Has anyone heard of May Thurner Syndrome? A little over a year ago I had a DVT that ran the length of my left leg. (About the time I was feeling better from Lyme Disease).
It was discovered that I have MTS. Thats where the right artery in the stomach/pelvic area, constricts the left vein which it over laps. I will soon be weened off coumadin, and on to adult dose aspirin.
I am very anxious about getting off coumadin, yet I don't want to take it for the rest of my life either. If I have another DVT, they will put in a stint to open up the vein, and I will have to take coumadin forever.
Does anyone have any information on MTS? Something positive would be nice.
I have to note that I was on hormones at the time of my DVT and I had also gained a few extra pounds. I'm trying to loose some weight now. I guess I'm hoping that the weight gain played a part in the vein constriction.
MTS is not very common, so you guys may not have ever heard of it. I hope someone here knows something about it. I wonder if Lyme played a part in causing a DVT or in constriction of the vein.
