My son is so sick right now and he hasn't been this bad in a long time. He started Alinia on Saturday. He takes 3 a day. He did not ramp up. He is so sleepy and fluish with no fever. I have stopped the Alinia.
Can this be a herx? If so can you explain how?

Why didn't he ramp up? Sounds like a lot to start with. Flu syndrome is listed as an adverse effect.
When starting such a strong med, it's best to ramp up. If it were me, I would stop it until his symptoms calm down.
One a day sounds like a more sensible option if you decide to give it to him again to start with. Personaly, I prefer antiparasitic herbs and salt/c in getting rid of parasites.
Sea salt and vitamin C support the adrenals and are much more nourishing to the body as well as boosting the immune system. Not against pharma meds, and some folks alternate with pharmas and herbals. How old is your son?

Thanks everyone. He has so much going on at one time, it gets confusing.

I was shocked to have such a strong herx/flare when I started Alinia. It seems to work like at cyst buster for Lyme and it augments my treatments for babesia.
I only take 1 twice daily.
