i've had this before and it seems to come and go.
it often happens when i first lay down but then will happen occasionally throughout the night.
my whole body jerks violently and my muscles actually seem to cramp up. i've kicked my husband and he thinks i do it on purpose but htg i don't. he's just too close.
it's mostly an overall body and not just arms or legs and it's painful.
lyme again huh?? somebody called it myclonic jerks or something like that, but i still say lyme.

- Yes, sounds like myoclonic episodes. There can be many reasons.
First, it's a classic sign of magnesium &/or taurine deficiency. I sometimes need up to 2,000 mg of magnesium a day -- always divided into at least 3 doses (400 - 600 each time).
Taurine added is a huge help to muscle spasms like this.
Other mineral &/or vitamin balance issues, as well.
Also can come with lyme - due in part to the magnesium deficiency that lyme can create. I'd also put money on taurine being low.
Side-effects of certain medications. -

Get some good quality magnesium. Maybe even some magnesium oil.
randi... It could be from your statin drug! Are you taking CoQ10?

I do this too, though not as bad as a year ago. Mine actually feels like anxiety building in my chest/stomach area that feels like if I don't jerk, I will explode! I've learned to calm the episodes by doing deep breathing techniques I learned while working in mental health. It really prevents the spasmodic episode, whatever it is.

Get your iron levels tested! If it is low, your muscles are not getting enough oxygen and cramp up. This is an ongoing problem for me and take ferrous glucconate overthecounter meds. I have taken four pills a day since my iron levels have been so low. Most likely due to a blood parasite.
