I started Alinia over the weekend to hopefully make some progress with what is apparently Mepron resistent babs.

Unfortunately, I had to stop after 4 days of blood pressure climbing higher and higher.

Anyone else have similar issues?

Hypertension is a known side effect of Alinia. I don't know how often it occurs, just that it can.

I naturally have really low blood pressure and some of my other meds can cause HYPOtension, so I haven't experienced any increase in blood pressure from Alinia.

However, the first week and a half that I was on Alinia, I had major side effects--mostly extreme sleepiness and some gas/bloating. After that first period, though, the side effects went away and I've tolerated Alinia very well.

I'd suggest asking your LLMD if it's a good idea to try again or to just stop.

I am on day 7 of Alinia and doing OK. If I don't have any issues, what does that mean? My babs is mostly treated. I am using Alinia for parasites.

How much Alinia are you taking?

I survived 6 days on Alinia. I Don't think it was a herx, I'm guessing it was just too rough a med on my weak body.

I've done several rounds of it, and tolerated it for some of them. This pill is bitter sweet for me. I love it because I breathe better on it, but unfortunately, it amps up the yeast.

Ktkdommer, I've tried it doing 1 pill twice a day, and also 1 pill three times a day (both were helpful).

I would up your probiotics on this med, and also do extra daily detoxing for the yeast and dying parasites. A binder to move it out of the body would be good.

Thanks Catgirl!

What is an average length for taking Alinia?

I am wondering if my oldest son with treatment resistent babesia should take it.

Average Joe- How much mepron have you been taking? Do you take it with zith?

Average joe, I forgot to mention that my blood pressure went up on this med too, but only 10 points. I usually have low blood pressure, so the 10 wasn't a big deal for me. If you can't take it though, consider taking ivermectin. It hits my babs. Also some parasite herbs.

Ktkdommer, lucky you that you don't have any issues with it! The average length for alinia is 3 days, but that didn't do it for me. I've done several rounds of it, and some longer in duration, but the bugs are still there, so I think this med is only hitting some of them for me. Gael has said many times before that treating parasites is a long term deal. If you don't notice a difference on it though, you might not have an issue with the bugs it targets.

If your son has treatment resistant babs, alinia might help. I had treatment resistant babs and the parasite meds are helping. Every time I try Alinia or ivermectin my babs symptoms go down. I guess the babs could be protomyzxoa too.
