Hi all,
As I said, I'm new here. One of my good friends is positive that I have Lyme Disease, but I am yet to find a doctor willing to retest me for it. I'd love to get all of your opinions about this. See if anyone has similar symptoms. I'm desperate, please help!?

I am turning 21 next Friday actually [Smile] About 13 years ago when I was in 3rd or 4th grade, I began having a lot of problems with hands. Cramping feeling, very tired, hurt to hold my pencil, etc. With my symptoms growing and visiting every doctor imaginable it seemed like haha I went undiagnosed until the August before starting my freshmen year of high school with Rheumatoid Arthritis. At that point I had the basic Lyme test done and it came back negative. I went through high school trying to live with this and growing symptoms. Senior year I had to have carpal tunnel surgery on both wrists which my hand specialist believed was due to bad care for the RA. Freshmen year of college my new rheumatologist decided he didn't think I had RA anymore. So then it was Fibromyalgia, Sjogren's Syndrome, Restless Leg Syndrome, a low pain tolerance, just in my head. I've heard everything I feel like. I'm a junior in college now and whatever this is, it's taking over my body I feel like. My friend is positive it's Lyme, so I thought what the heck? I'll try talking to these people.

Thanks, folks, I'm at wits end. Begging for some help! [bow]

It is VERY COMMON to have a Lyme test come back negative. It is also very common to have a dr who CANNOT READ THE DANGED TEST!

So one of those things probably happened to you. Definitely find an LLMD to get the proper testing.

Here is a wealth of info on Lyme and coinfections....

http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=088555;p=0

you could have Sjogren's, Restless leg syndrome .. all from Lyme

or it could be a misdiagnosis .. the RA also

Welcome! [Smile]

This story has been here 1000 times and 1000 times it's lyme. The problem is the interpretation of the results is wrong if you went to a non-lyme specialist.

Even Infectious Disease dr.s cannot interpret a lyme test correctly. They'll swear up and down it's RA, or any number of other things.

Please, Please find an LLMD. People don't because it's expensive and insurance only covers partial, if any, of the expense. Lyme only get worse and never goes away on it's own.

We have all been diagnosed with everything you listed plus more.

You're young, treat it now and you should bounce back quick.
