Hi everyone!
I had a cold that lasted about a week back in February. I was horribly tired (like dragging) for another two weeks.

At the same time, I started supplements for MTHFR mutation, namely, methylfolate, methyl b-12, and b-6.

I am still very tired and am wondering if the vitamins might have something to do with it, or if it's just my sad immune system trying to get back to normal.

Thoughts?

It could be the vitamins. I've been doing the methylation vitamins since January and became horribly tired and irritable (my doc said to expect that). I was falling asleep in the middle of the day for several hours and couldn't seem to ever wake up.

I just started getting my energy back this week.

I can't do B12 at all, this makes me too tired right now and I have other bad reactions to it, but even with the other vitamins, stuff is starting to work again.

Hmm, so the fatigue is from your body starting to work like it should?

I guess that means it's a good thing?

So difficult to sort out all the symptoms!

I don't know for sure, but I also just started the MTHFR vitamins and have been extremely tired. I just want to sleep all the time.

correcting methylation can cause temporary backfires as your body is being forced to work in a way it could not before, it varies from person to person, and the degree of the mutation, ie only one A1298c copy vs both 1298 and other copies. Hang in there.

The purpose of MTHF, etc. is to support toxin mobilization. If you are lucky enough to mobilize, you need to be on binders to catch the fallout. If you don't, you merely mobilize, kick the toxins around and reabsorb them to settle elsewhere to cause renewed problems in other body compartments.

The toxins need to be removed from the body.

Search for "binders" here - the subject of detoxing has been discussed many times.

It is tricky, but it can be done.

Best to you.

Probably the fatigue is due to improved immune function. I am having same issue and think it is the methyl supplements. Hang in there . Cut the dose down if you are too miserable , then ramp up slowly .

I have just been researching the new protozoa that Fry Labs discovered (also called protomyxoa rheumatica) and apparently it feeds on folic acid.

Something to consider.

I can totally relate!

I started the Methylation supps about 2 weeks ago and feel very tired, dizzy, brain fog and sleepy.

I read on MTHFR.net that this is def. a side effect of the supplements. He said if someone hasn't taken care of the on going inflammation in the body then this can be expected.

He said to try:
Time Release Niacin - That is suppose to stop the over-Methylation and calm things down a bit.

Milk Thistle - This is an anti-inflamatory and it's suppose to help with the symptoms. I tried this and it worked!

I also agree with GiGi. You prob. have to do binders. I do Cholestyramine but any of the binders can work.

The Doc also said if one is having issues with Methylation they need to:

Fix the Gut
Reduce Inflamation
Reduce Sulfur supps
Take Molybdenum
Probiotics
Detox with Sauna & Colonics

I think I'm going to fix my gut some more and kill the bugs and the reduce inflamation before doing the Methylation again.

Hope this helps
Chootik
