I had a tooth pulled a few days ago and I am just worried about it getting infected
Had it checked by the dentist today and it was not infected
Had the tooth pulled 5 days ago
Would I know if I had an infection by having pain, or could you have an infection without any pain?

Well I don't have the clot but the dentist had packed it and the packing came out the other day
The dentist didn't say anything about dry socket today, just said he saw tissue healing in the socket
But would pain be the indicator of a jaw infection?

If the dentist looked at it today he would be able to tell if there was an infection or a dry socket. What did he say about the pain?

I don't have any pain but he did say if there is lots of pain to start on amoxicillin and he gave me a script for it.
But only to take if I get pain, I am also rinsing with salt water and using homeopathics for the bacteria
He also used a laser to disinfect it and I had an ozone treatment and laser treatment at my llnds office
Do you have pain Ellen?

I also have a syringe that I shoot salt water in there and then shoot the homeopathics into the hole
I am determined not to get any infection
I do both of these steps every time I eat

Yes I had severe throbbing pain, unable to eat or drink. Be careful not to overdo the rinsing. Too much of a good thing isn't good either

I had a tooth pulled early in Feb. this year. It was healing ok, but then about a week later, the pain started getting really, really bad again.
I went to another dentist (didn't like the one who pulled the tooth), and he said there was no infection.
That night, the pain was beyond belief, and my cheek started to swell up. I had by then an appt. with a biological dentist for another tooth issue, and he said I had an infection and gave me abx.
After the first dose of abx, the swelling and pain decreased noticeably.
In my experience, the pain and swelling were indications of infection. The x-ray looked perfectly fine...but I clearly was infected.

Thanks for mentioning that razzle, as of now I don't have any pain or swelling other than minor tenderness and pressure in the sinus above

Can sinus tenderness be a sign of infection at all, but no pain at the extraction site?

Well I don't think I do other than the fact that I have some sinus pain and pressure on that side and it was the 6 year molar right below my sinus.
There is no pain though in the jaw above where the tooth was just in the sinus above the tooth and I have a sore throat
So I was wondering if these could be signs of infection
Hope yours starts feeling better soon Ellen
