I received one liter normal saline at home. I am clueless about the tubing/rate control of IV-NS. Whatever supplies I was sent - it took over four hours to drip one liter. I have received IV-NS at hospitals/clinics and it seems like one liter took about an hour. Drip. What kind of tubing/rate control options are there for faster infusions??? A nurse started the IV for me - using a 24g 3/4" Angiocath. ??? I want to do IV-NS more than once a week and do it all by myself. When I ask about using a simple butterfly needle -I get looks of horror - and am asked why I would want a steel needle in my vein. I know a BF needle would be much easier to use to self-infuse. There is a concern about BF's infiltrating? Otherwise - what am I not understanding? FWIW - I checked/pulled on my skin after infusion - and it popped right back into place. Normally it would "tent". I had thought the "tenting" from my being middle- aged and having lost weight over the years. I got the IV-NS for hydration - and I feel sure it helped. Is there anything medically significant that after the infusion my skin did not tent? Thanks. -------------------- Pos.Bb culture 2012 Labcorp - no bands ever Igenex - Neg. 4 times With overall bands: IGM 18,28,41,66 IND: 23-25,34,39 IGG 41,58 IND: 39 Bart H IGG 40
