I have had an rx for diflucan that i am supposed to take once a week along with my abx. I was scared to take it for a long time and was hoping probiotics and cutting sugar would be enough.
After getting a yeast infection that wouldn't leave with otc meds I decided i have to take it.
I took my first dose a few days ago and felt quite a bit better over the next two days and took another (higher)dose last night and don't feel so well today.I am thinking maybe it is die off from the yeast.
My question is should I take it every day for like a week to knock it back? How long should i take it?
I know this is a question for my doc but it is a while before i see the dr. and she is hard to get hold of between appts.

I would take it everyday for a week myself. Sure would. Otherwise it may not knock it out. Even every other day would be OK if your die-off is too much for you.
If I told you how much of that stuff I've taken, you'd fall off your chair.

I generally take it for one week straight when needed.

Just staying away from the foods that help it grow. And perhaps detox in general.

I took Diflucan while on antibiotics.
Hey Tu Tu, if you are still reading, I've always wanted to ask you this-
Have you ever taken Ketoconazole? I ask, because one of my daughters former Dr.s, who dealt with yeast a lot,
explained to me one time that certain strains of yeast may respond differently to different anti- fungals-
My daughter responded much better from Keto than she did diflucan...
Just a thought.

Is it normal for yeast symptoms to temporarily flare after taking diflucan?
Today I have felt very tired and my yeast infection has flared up and it was much better two days ago after my first lower dose, (only took half a pill the first time) of diflucan.

I have not taken diflucan, but as a person with chronic yeast I have found that initiating any treatment can cause the symptoms to change. For example, going from discharge with no itching - then treating - and then having intense itching. I have read that yeast can change forms, but I don't know the details.
