A real shocker came on April 11th as my wife was diagnosed with brain tumor. Successful surgery but as you can imagine does not mix well with chronic lyme. Need any suggestions on getting rid of nausea as she can not hold down liquids or food.

Thanks

GINGER CAPSULES, and it can take several, ongoing a few times a day to reach therapeutic strength.

Most natural foods stores, vitamin stores, and even many pharmacies (maybe even some on hospital grounds) carry some brands of GINGER CAPSULES.

In the meantime, Ginger Tea can help but cannot reach the therapeutic dose required to really stop the nausae sometimes.

QUINOA FLAKES ("keen-wa"), just mix some in room temp water in a mug to make a paste. Then add boiling or hot water to desired consistency.

This will give her some nutrients, protein, complex carb and some fat all in one.

This is gluten free. Any spices, garden herbs, honey or stevia can be added to make it either sweet or savory.

Avoid articial dyes or additives as they can add to nausea.

COCONUT OIL - first little by little but, if tolerated, a full tablespoon as often as she wants. Or COCONUT CREAM.

AVOCADO OIL (or some mashed avocado if possible).

Even just a little oil in the mouth can help.

GREEK YOGURT, very thick but be sure it does not have added powdered milk.

CHEESE? Goat cheese might be better than from cow.

ALMOND BUTTER?

Even just a tiny bit to melt in the mouth may be possible. OILS may not sit well but, if they might it can help get some vital fatty acids to the brain, even just rolling around in the mouth a bit.

When she can keep liquids down: SPIRULINA powder mixed in water. To get some good greens. Maybe capsules but at least 1/2 cup of water is needed.

PROBIOTICS

There are some homeopathic sublingual pellets, too, that can ease discomfort instantly (great for flying) or nausea for any reason.

Most natural foods markets and some vitamin shops carry homeopathics. They come in small vials and usually, 3 pellets under tongue are typical dose.

Tabacum

Cocculus

QUINOA FLAKES are great to have on hand. Just add boiling water to a deep bowl or mug. Cover. Wait a minute and you have an emergency meal, of sorts for a tender tummy.

Surprisingly good ratio of protein & fat, too, so this is not going to adversely affect blood glucose.

Also:

DGL (search site below under Licorice),

Slippery Elm, Marshmallow Root powder

Sorry to hear of this development for both of you. Glad surgery was successful but so sorry for the after effects.

Hope she feels better very soon.

VISCERAL MASSAGE - See if anyone there is trained in this. Google: UPLEDGER INSTITUTE website.

Other massage attention to calm the vagus nerve?

ACUPUNCUTURE. Other key herbs.

A good acupuncturist (L.Ac.) or a naturopathic doctor (N.D.) would be a great help.

Some hospitals have some on staff, often in the cancer departments but you can ask and see if they can come round by her - if she is still in hospital.

AVOID ALL FLUORESCENT LIGHTS, even energy saving ones, if possible. Use regular incandescent bulbs in lamps with shades. Avoid "naked" light bulbs, too. A shaded bulb is better.

The inner ear is likely affected by the anesthesia's effect on the liver.

LIVER SUPPORT can also be of help but that would have to just in her mouth for now if she can't keep water down.

OH, Carl... I am so sorry to hear this!! Did the doctor send her home with anti-nausea meds?

Will keep the two of you in prayer!

She is at home. We just got suppository form of her nausea medicine. While a little reluctant she says chocolate milk is helping and prayer. If she isn't better by tomorrow I have to take her 2 hours back up to the hospital. We are praying.

Who really wants to do suppositories? Ondanetron/odanaetron (?) comes in a sublingual dose, under the tongue so there is no swallowing. You might ask for the generic form which is cheaper.
