well i;ve made i through 6 weeks of Core treating KPU....i knew it would be hard but had no idea just how hard. i am sick as dog....kinda like my first year of being ill. doing lots of detox which helps.
but i guess i'm asking what i asked last week for those that have treated at what point does it start to get better? doing 4 pills a day. no plans of backing off been doing that way too often in my treatment.

Wow, six weeks.
I do not have experience, However, I have read that many feel worse as metals, viruses etc start moving.
Sounds like you already have binders and detoxing agents on board from your other posts.
Just wanted to post and cheer you on. I hope you feel better soon!!

I haven't done KPU yet. Just from experience - I don't think the "no pain, no gain" approach works with healing Lyme & co-infections. You may need to take less. It can be counter-productive to herx too hard. It causes too much strain on the body.

Dave, I did have to take a couple days off treating KPU until things settled down, then resumed treatment. I think if things are bad giving your body a couple days off to detox will help. The rough part lasted a couple weeks for me, but that was of me going slow and only on two core a day!
Months later I am up to 4 a day no problem

Dave, me too I had to back up on the dose for a few days, then when I increased it back there was no herx. So I did that every time I had to increase- tried if herxed, reduced and than came back later with no herx. After couple of months I started to feel drastic improvement.

Herxing generally means a detox reaction. If it's too much, it's best to back off. It doesn't matter if it's from heavy metals or other toxins.
I think the original term "herxheimer" was coined when they were studying syphilis.

not that i want to get into a debate but i'm one who thinks the term herx is way overused for every symptom that occurs esp on these boards., KPU treatment does not kill any bacteria and thus no herxheimer.
it does however make you toxic so it acts and feels just like it..only difference is that once your body gets remineralized you will stabilize...
what the time period is anyones guess...and i'm having a hard time getting anyone to say what that is.

Dave - It's hard to give a time period since we are all so different. I think it depends on how depleted we are, how well we detox and how toxic we are.
Surprisingly, I didn't have an issue with Core. At least not one that I can recall. With all the crazy ups and downs of this disease, it's hard for me to know what is causing what.
Last time I had my zinc level checked it was still low. So my guess is that it can take a long time to build up our reserves.
I was of the impression that KPU/HPU may need life-long supplementation. I'm going to ask my ART doc about this next time I see him.
Hope you are feeling a little bit better.

Yes, I agree that herx is misused but it's basically about what used to be known as a "healing crisis".
It's hard to say what is actually causing it - whether it's a drug side effect or other detox reaction. If something is making you too ill to function - you may need to pursue it a little less vigorously. Just my experience.
The body needs time to heal. I don't think you can push it too hard. It's counter-productive. From what I have studied - redistributing and removing toxins or metals is not easy. Detoxing is a process. I suppose that KPU is supposed to improve metal detox. It takes time.
I dealt with parasites for a long time. More that 2-3 years. I'm still dealing with them. It's not KPU but it does make one toxic. It does not make one feel well. It's taken way longer than I though. I never even suspected that they were an issue...
Everyone is different.
