I believe I might have this due to the fact that I recently, at age 44, was diagnosed with 4 heart defects without any prior heart issues.
I also have congenital lyme.
The article link says: Here we describe the first case of Borrelia afzelii Lyme endocarditis, in a 61-year-old man living in an endemic area of France. The diagnosis was confirmed by detection of B. afzelii DNA in the mitral valve by specific real-time PCR.

My question is: Did the PCR test the mitral valve/heart itself or did it test his blood and confirm he had Borrlia in his body???????

It doesnt sound to me like it was blood...but i dont trust my brain anymore

My pcr testing was always done by tissue sample...how would they know blood was related to mitral valve specifically
