My husband is very close to the end of treatment. He's one of those lucky ones who was never "sick" before treatment, but when I got sick, we figured out what his varied, off and on symptoms were from.
He was treated for Bart & Lyme, w/ various Bart rashes, sore fingers/knees and fatigue flaring during treatment.
He's still struggling with the sleep issues which tell me he's got to work on adrenal issues.
But this thing, I'm not so sure about. In the past 4 months, he's not only been losing weight but muscle mass too, even though he works out and lifts.
He's lost 25+ lbs and his once strong frame now looks more like skin and bones (at least to me). When you're 6'4" and suddenly find yourself under 200lbs, you know something's wrong.
Is this something that will pass? Will he get back to normal? Is something in particular (like thyroid) causing this that we can address? Any insights here?
Thanks, Hens
PS. I will start him on Parasite treatment in the next week or two. That might explain the weight loss, but what about the loss of muscle mass?

Hens, if he is on the yeast diet he will lose. I lost 30 pounds and can't seem to gain any back. I am interested what others may have to say though.
Glad yo are nearing the end of your treatment. How long have you treated?

im no expert but i struggle with the weight issue. im 5 10 125 pounds. it worries me. the issue for me was when i changed my diet i wasnt getting as much calories.
for me its like anything else the more you consume the more you will put on. also there are protein weight gainers that ive heard are good for putting on mussel mass.
if hes done with treatment maybe more leeway can be made on his diet giving him more higher quantity calories to help put on some weight.

What helped a lyme friend of mine when she got way too thin was eating quoina porridge for breakfast and for a snack a few times per day.
These 2 things will add more calories. The anti-yeast diet causes weight loss. Quoina and meat can help you add a few pounds.
And, once he goes off the diet, he will quickly gain weight (unless some other problem is causing this).
Count how many calories he is eating per day. Then, you will easily see if his number of calories is too low. If the number of calories is high, then he needs to get a physical to look for another cause. My guess is that he is not eating enough calories per day due to the anti-yeast diet.

No, he's not on any diet. He eats eggs, bagel, cream cheese for breakfast, sandwich or taco for lunch, chicken or fish for dinner.
He's been loading up on ice cream for the last 2 weeks as his gut is improving enough (after Bart treatment) to handle the dairy. After not having ice cream for 2-3 years, he's only interested in Ben & Jerry's!
It's hard for a guy who's not feeling "sick" to believe he needs to be on any diet. Whenever he's felt yeasty, he just pops diflucan for 10 days or so.
If he starts gaining weight, will the muscle mass come with it?

After trying to eat gluten, wheat, sugar and dairy free starting back in December I lost about 5 pounds in less than two weeks.
Already underweight at 5'5" I have changed my diet a bit and am maintaining between 108-110 which is still too low.
I also am trying my best to continue my Chalene Extreme exercise program which includes weights/aerobics to build muscle.
I know many on this board have said not to eat the same thing everyday, but I have always been like that when I enjoy something and it works for me.
I have started eating one-two eggs scrambled in a bit of coconut oil, two slices of nitrate free lunch meat, one slice of Udi's bread w/ coconut oil and a bowl of EcoPlanet gluten free cereal w/ flax seed daily.
I am no longer starving immediately after breakfast, but am hunger two hours later.
I've added cashews and an occasional bit of peanut butter w/ celery (another no-no) on some days as well.
I am trying to keep my calorie consumption up around 2044.
I calculated my basic metabolic resting rate (calories my body burns just existing). It was 1131.
When I first started the special diet I was only consuming 1135 calories a day.
Way too low for someone who is working two jobs and tries to exercise 4 times a week.
I had no fuel to burn.
At present this seems to be working, but I am trying like crazy to add another 5-10 pounds.

Any chance that parasites or a tape worm could be involved? Just a thought....
