I have been reading up on yeast and candida.

I am only on my third week of antibiotics. I am taking doxy. I have been prescribed pretty large doses of Nystatin for the yeast.

I have not gotten my probiotic pills as of yet. Haven't ordered them yet. It was the next thing on my list.

I have not been eating sugar. I have not cut out the gluten yet. I have been on Magnesium.

Today, I have noticed my tongue has the white coating on it and is very sore. Burns whens I eat certain foods.

I read that this is probably yeast. What in the world do I do now? Do I stop the antibiotics, I started taking the doxy on April 9. It hasn't been three weeks yet.

I have a call in to my doctor. He hasn't called me back yet, but he will.

I am in a panic. I thought it would take a lot longer than three weeks before getting yeast.

The posts that I have read are from people that has taken antibiotics for a longer period of time.

Thanks much for any advice or comments.

Are you eating white foods?? Rice, potatoes, pasta, etc?? That will do it too.

You may not have to stop abx if the Dr gives you some Diflucan. Or you may be asked to stop them for a week while your gut catches up.

I've read that rinsing your mouth with listerine, then kefir, after every meal can help.

If I were you, I'd make getting ANY probiotic (at a health food store, in the fridge section) a top priority.

Anything with 30 billion CFUs that has mixed strains should be good enough until you order.

I recommend these probiotics--they don't have to go in the fridge because they're soil based.

About 200 billion CFUs per capsule, so a bottle usually lasts me a couple months.

Also, this site has wonderful prices on supplements. You have to email the company and ask for a password for the physician's products.

Just my opinions, but that has what has worked for me. Good luck to you!

You cannot take abx without adding probiotics (not at the same time) or you will suffer with yeast. I would also get some diflucan to kill your yeast beast.

I agree with Ralphi, at least 200 billion probiotics per day. I used to take 400+. You might want to do a yeast cleanse (health food store).

My doctor has gotten back with me.

I will be getting a prescription of Diflucan tomorrow morning.

I also have the probiotic from the drug store. Wonder how long it will take before I feel a difference?

The probiotic won't make you feel better, but the Diflucan should.. though at first you may feel WORSE. You can have a die-off reaction as the yeast is being killed.

Which probiotic did you get?

I got the Florastor but a CVS brand that is supposed to be identical to it.

I just got home from work and haven't had a chance to get it down and look at it yet.

I am awfully tired. I think I will go and take a shower and go to bed.

Tomorrow is another day! Good nite all and thanks!

That is good .. but you need a "regular" probiotic too. Tomorrow you can pick up some Ultimate Flora or Culurelle or maybe even "Align."

(one of those 3 .. not all of them)

Get some rest!!

I bought the CVS Ultimate Flora. It has 30 billion in each capsule.

I am 59, the lady at the pharmacy said I should get one for 'seniors'. But I went ahead and got the Ultimate Flora.

I will start taking them tomorrow. At 30 billion (10 strains) per capsule, I should just take one a day? I will have my diflucan tomorrow morning also.

Take what you can afford. You are going to need about 100 billion CFU's per day .. minimum.

I have no idea what that lady meant by one for seniors?? I'm glad you got the UF.

PS.. space them out during the day and make sure you take them 2 hrs away from an antibiotic. I find a really good time to take them is first thing in the morning and last thing at night. Then one during the day if possible.

For me it has been diet, diet, diet. No sugar period. I eat very low carb too really.

I also take candisol which I love -- better than Candex for me and candida cleanse by NOW-- each help a lot. I take tons of probiotics and eat lots of sauerkraut and drink a lot of kefer.

It has been a journey but I can tell you that when I pulled all sugars like carrots etc from my diet -- the yeast went nuts as it was dying and I ended up at an acute care not hardly being able to make sense and feeling like I was weak and going to pass out. It also made my stomach burn like fire to the point I could not take probiotics for awhile. I then went on the GAPS diet, and everything slowly began to turn around. It made a lyme flare honestly look easy. I wish I had known that dieoff can be that bad. The anxiety I had waking up in the morning was beyond anything I have ever experienced, in a word, harrowing.

I do think that getting the candida under control gave my body a leg up to be able to put the lyme into remission. Blessings and let me know if I can help in any way.

No carrots, eh? Wow - I have been doing limited sugar, limited carbs, nystatin, probiotics (400 bn), and natural antifungal rotation, and the yeast is still getting the upper hand.

I took some more diflucan the other day, which really helps me, but I quickly realized that I cannot take it at the same time as the rifampin (for my bartonella).

So I'm back at square one - the fatigue is creeping back in and I'm non-functional again.

Would removing the last remaining traces of sugar (like in carrots) really make that much of a difference?

Getting desperate here.

Yes, it can! Remove any trace of sugar for at least several weeks. Find my thread on fermented vegetables and get busy! [Smile]

Avoid artificial sweeteners too.

Got to do something, since I can't be on diflucan while I'm on rifampin (took diflucan on my own for 2 days and then realized that I needed to stop!).

Fewer and fewer things for me to eat, but I need to be able to be awake and not sleep all day.

Thanks for all the help!
