Does anyone else have depression that only seems bad during their menstrual cycle? I literally lose it! I cry and freak out and get incredibly sad and have no hope for the future. It lifts after my period. My hormone levels aren't off so I'm wondering what infection could cause this. I wonder if this is lyme rearing its head but I am off all antibiotics for the last 6 months. I'm only treating parasites.
Interestingly, since treating parasites I had a whole week of insomnia around the full moon. So, I figured I was hitting parasites then. Once, I got my period it was like a light switch...depressed and so sleepy.

My Candida flares around my cycle. Something to do with hormones. Women are prone to get yeast infections around this time, too.

Conventional Lyme Wisdom states that Lyme flares with the menses. I also used to get weepy and experience insomnia when I ovulated.

Thank you both! I figured it was possibly lyme or something else. I wasn't thinking Candida but that could be possibly since I haven't been on the diet lately.

Kgg-did this go away for you when you treated Lyme? You say you "used to get weepy" so are you no longer having lyme symptoms?

I am having Lyme/Babesia symptoms and treating right now. What helped me was going on Progesterone. Typically you take it the last two weeks before your menses. I would start it early, like day 12 to cover my ovulation.
Magnesium also helps with some of these symptoms but my stomach does not tolerate oral Magnesium.
Lyme messes with hormones. Some women also go on anti-depressants to deal with it if it is intolerable to live with. (And for me depression symptoms are not to be tolerated!). I have even read that some take it only the two weeks before their menses and it helps.
If this was me, I would be talking with my health practitioner about this. Don't try to muscle through it, it is too miserable to live that way.
