I feel like feeling normal is a thing of the past. I recently ran into a friend who said she ended up passing yeast to her kids during pregnancy. Does anyone else feel this way?
I wonder how long I have carried this yeast issue.
My kids are 22,21 and 19
One with Asperger and the other two anxiety, GI issues
Sigh

I've used supplements that have Pau d'Arco, oil of oregano, garlic and a few other herbs to treat yeast, I think the name of the tx was 'Candida Cleanse.'

Candida/our good gut bacteria is most definitely passed onto our children. If a child is not born with enough good gut bacteria and then gets innoculated with all the viruses and pathogens, etc. the immune system may not be able to handle it and other problems can occur.
As for the anxiety and depression, ReMag magnesium is so well absorbed, you may want to look into it.
I also would make sure everyone with any suspected yeast/gut problems is off wheat and gluten. This is so vitally important.
What can happen is that the yeast/gluten both can cause leaky gut and then the yeast get out of the digestive tract and into the blood stream where they do not belong.
Our bodies see gluten and to our body it looks identical to the Candida. That's why it's so important for us yeast folks to not eat gluten, is because our body thinks it's Candida and then tries to "attack" it but ends up attacking our own body instead (auto.immune).
But anyone with gut issues by all means needs to bee off this stuff and look into replacing that good bacteria, I mean really replacing it with good probiotic food. The solution isn't that hard, it's just a matter of doing it.
Also, of note is that the majority of serotonin is made in our gut, so not enough gut flora could also lead to the depression, and brain symptoms. That's why they call the gut the second brain. It's directly connect. That's why gluten can affect us not only physically but mentally as well.

I've had to go to extremes with diet, it involves elimination of anything with any form of sugar, gluten, fermented (even vanilla is fermented), basically all prepared foods are out.
Whole foods, easily digested proteins like fish, I do okay with organic chicken (small amounts, I can use most herbs for seasoning), small amounts of organic meet occasionally.
NO DAIRY, the sugar content is too high for me. The only fruit was granny smith apples for a long time, but lemon and limes are okay in small amounts. I recently have added small portions of fresh blue berries (10 berries for me) only a couple to 3 times per week. But almost all veggie are fine. Not too many carrots though.
Nutritionist on Monday to look at more recipes to put some joy back in eating. Willing to share if interested. Good luck, it takes a while, but it is beatable.

amyb, excellent feedback here on the yeast, also an issue that has plagued me for years, I just wanted to add:
Stop the hammer on the head :-). I'm a mother, too, I'm older, kids are younger, and the mom blame game is no good-
we, who would lay down our lives for those kids in a hot second, just didn't know, and cannot lay the guilt of the world here- it's all way, way bigger than us.
I have to remind myself I did the best I could with what I knew- Hang in there --

EWT, do you avoid ALL fermented foods or just foods that are fermented from yeast, for example, beer?
I would love to know more about your diet. Do you just eat small portions? What kind of carbs, any at all? quinoa? I'd love to hear what the nutritionist says!

Here is the info. on the ReMag magnesium. Good stuff! It's about $20 a month.

I've gotten to the point where I do not eat any grains or carbs - no potatoes, quinoa, rice, GF pasta, etc.
I also realized (with my lyme brain) that I was taking my nystatin incorrectly - I was taking it as the same time as my antibiotics (?!?) as well as my natural antifungals (some of which are also antimicrobial).
Sheesh! I'm hoping that taking the nystatin at the right time make a difference for me. Can't believe how many months I've been doing it wrong!

Do you know for sure that it matters? I know you can take Diflucan at any time.

I've had a problem with nystatin lately. It seems to make things worse. I think it's killing all the good yeast, which I guess is normal, but it feels like it's making me develop more yeast. Maybe it's just not working for me anymore. I'm going to try not taking it today.
