Looking for advice... My 5 yo got bit by a tick 3 days ago, according to the lab it is a nymph that was attached for more than 36 hrs, it is being tested for Lyme, Ehrichia, Babesia and Bartonella.

Her pediatrician will not treat her because of her age unless there are symptoms, even if the tests come back positive on Monday.

Am I wasting time by not starting antibiotics right away?

My opinion only - I am not a medical professional - but you should get treated asap by a pediatric LLMD - there is one right near you that I can Pm you with the info - they have a very long wait list, but if you relate the problem and that it is urgent, they might be able to get you in or at least refer you to a local LLMD who can prescribe 30 days of abx (your daugther is too young to take doxycycline).

But please, DO NOT WAIT for test results. Treat ASAP for 30 days.

Yes!

Tick testing is not always accurate. And do not listen to statistics of what percentage of ticks are infected. Those stats are way too low.

I would start treatment ASAP. If she is infected, early intervention gives her the best chance of complete recovery, and will drastically reduce the length of time she needs to be in treatment.

Waiting for symptoms to show is incredibly risky, IMO.

If I could chime in, I would get treatment as well. Early treatment is key to recovery.
